According to media reports, one of the three vehicles, which came from the direction of Clifton Bridge and were passing through Abdullah Haroon Road, exploded near the US Consulate building after crossing the Marriott Hotel. However, top police officials while denying that the attack was a suicide bombing said that the bomb exploded in a moving vehicle. According to these sources, a car, in which four women were seated, was passing through the road and the blast resulted in the death of all the four occupants. Separately, other official sources were quoted as saying that the bomb was concealed in the car driven by a lady and that some persons, who were probably following the car, blew up the explosive device through remote control when the car reached near the US Consulate. The identity of the alleged suicide bomber has not been ascertained thus far.
