Officials said that due to the destruction of 132KV power pylons, electricity was suspended to Mianwali and Dera Ismail Khan. According to the bomb disposal squad (BDS), the militants had planted two kilogrammes explosives to each of the supporting pillar.

Three people, including a religious cleric, were killed and 13 others, including a woman and children, were injured in a landmine explosion in Kanrakai area of Kurram Agency in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on April 11, reports Daily Times. According to details, a pick-up taking commuters from Kanrakai to Parachinar, the headquarters of Kurram Agency, when it hit an anti-tank explosive planted by unidentified militants. The explosion resulted in the complete destruction of the vehicle and the killing of three persons on the spot. The victims were identified as Muhammad Hassan, Noor Wali and Maulana Rahmat Ali.

In the first incident, an explosion took place when two personnel of the Marri Security Forces (SFs) deputed near Chamalang coalfield stepped on a landmine placed on a non-metal road in Surgari area. Both the security guards received critical splinter wounds and died on the spot. In the second incident, unidentified militants opened fire at a camp set up by a construction company in Dada Shah Mehmood area of Barkhan District, resulting in the death of two workers, identified as Muhammad Bakhsh and Sajjad Ahmed, and injuring two others.

According to local people, four children and three women were among those killed. Official sources said that two missiles were fired at a Hujra (guest house) where a group of ‘armed guests’ was staying. A vehicle parked in the compound was damaged in the attack. The slain militant was identified as Muhammad Hanif, a senior ‘commander’ of Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, an associate of the Haqqani network. Sources said a group of three militants of Hafiz Gul Bahadur group attacked the convoy of SF by blowing up an improvised explosive device and managed to to flee the scene and were later intercepted by the TTP. The slain ‘commander’ belonged to Bura Khel Wazir tribe and was very active in the area.

The sources said the TTP militants planted the landmines before vacating one of their bunkers at Zeeg hilltop overlooking Mehraban Kali in the Tirah valley. LI militants had been laying siege to the bunker for one week, cutting all supplies to more than a dozen TTP holed up at the hilltop.
