At least five persons, including a Police official, were killed and 12 others sustained injuries when a bomb exploded in the parking lot of the Serena Hotel located on the Shahrah-e-Zarghun Road in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, in the night of April 21, reports Dawn. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Azhar Ikram said that the explosive device was apparently fitted in a vehicle, according to initial investigations. Addressing a press conference, Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove said that the Chinese ambassador being the apparent target of the attack. Langove said that the ambassador was not present at the hotel when the explosion occurred. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the blast, adds Samaa TV.

Five Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) militants were killed during a search operation with the personnel of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Security Forces (SFs) in New Marri Camp area near Hazarganji suburb of the Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, on August 12, reports Dawn. The CTD officials said that the search operation was launched on the intelligence reports that militants were planning attacks on important places of the provincial capital on the eve of Independence Day. “Five suspected terrorists of banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) were killed in the exchange of fire,” a senior CTD official said, adding that three militants managed to escape taking the benefit of darkness. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the compound, including two sub-machine guns, three pistols and as many hand grenades. Two motorcycles, maps and documents were also recovered.

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel killed seven Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) militants in Kohar Dam area of Loralai District in Balochistan on August 25, reports Samaa TV. According to CTD statement, “The CTD Balochistan got credible source information that a large group of [proscribed] Balochistan Liberation Front terrorists [is] moving from Afghanistan in the general area of Kohar Dam [in] district Loralai and [they] are planning to attack a sensitive installation”. The CTD conducted an operation at a compound in Kohar Dam. An exchange of fire ensued and seven militants were killed, while three others fled. A cache of weapons was recovered from the compound. Four of the seven dead were identified as Sadam Hussain, Abdul Ghani, Abdul Ahad and Ameer Jan.

"Terrorists from inside Afghanistan across the international border opened fire on a military post in Bajaur district," the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, adding that Pakistani troops had responded in a befitting manner. "As per intelligence reports, due to [the] fire of Pakistan Army troops, two terrorists got killed and three to four terrorists got injured," read the statement. The dead soldiers were identified as Sepoy Jamal (28) from Mardan District and Sepoy Ayaz (21) from Chitral District.

Among the eight militants, the three militants‘commanders’ killed during the exchange of fire were Abdul Aneer alias Adil (TTP Toofan group), Junaid alias Jamid (TTP Tariq group) and Khaliq Shadeen alias Rehan (TTP Sadiq Noor group), the ISPR said.The identity of the rest five are yet to be ascertained. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), during an intense exchange of fire, militant ‘commander’ Abdul Adam Zeb alias Dung, who belonged to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s Bismillah group, and militant ‘commanders’ Molvi Mehboob alias Molvi and Mir Salam alias Anas, who were associated with the TTP Sajna group, were killed. Abdul Adam Zeb had been involved in more than 20 terrorist activities against SFs, law enforcement agencies and local population since 2014. He was involved in IED attacks, firing, attacks on government buildings, targeted killings, kidnapping for ransom, extortion and recruiting and organising terrorists in Mohammad Khel, Boya and Data Khel areas of North Waziristan and Zoida area of South Waziristan. Molvi Mehboob and Mir Salam were close associates of Baitullah Mehsud and TTP’s other militant commanders. A spokesman for the CTD said the operation was planned on the basis of intelligence reports about the presence of militants. “Four terrorists were killed in the operation, including a key commander of banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) identified as Riaz Thekedar,” the CTD spokesman said. The other three militant killed in the operation were identified as Fazal-ur-Rehman, Syed Ramzan and Syed Matiullah. Two other militants managed to escape. A cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from the militant hideout. According to the CTD officials, Riaz was a key TTP commander and was involved in terrorist attacks on Security Forces and an attack on Civil Hospital Quetta in 2016 in which a large number of lawyers and other people were killed. Two Army soldiers were killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Dosalli area of North Waziristan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on September 7, reports Dawn. In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that Security Forces (SFs) were conducting a clearance operation in Dosalli area when the IED exploded. As a result, 25-year-old Sepoy Zia Akram and 20-year-old Sepoy Musawwar Khan were killed. SFs immediately cordoned off the area to apprehend the militant who had planted the IED. During intense exchange of fire, one of the militants, who were trying to flee, was killed.
