A spokesman for the FC, Balochistan, claimed that seven Baloch Republican Army (BRA) militants surrendered and handed over their weapons to security personnel in Sui area of Dera Bugti District on April 8, reports Dawn. He said the militants who handed over themselves to law enforcement agencies promised that they would not take up arms anymore and would live peacefully. FC Inspector General Major General Sher Afgun welcomed the decision of the militants who surrendered and said the Government and FC would help all those who would lay down their weapons.

They were identified as Abdul Sattar Masoori Bugti, Iftikhar Bugti, Najeebullah Bugti and Idrees Rind. The Minister described the surrender as a big achievement of the Government because the men were said to be the “right hand of Barhamdagh Bugti”. He said they had abandoned the armed struggle against the state and decided to join the mainstream. Now they would work for the development and prosperity of the country, especially Balochistan, he added. Sattar Masoori said he went to Afghanistan in 2006 and spent most of his time in Nimruz province. He said the BRA had set up 20 to 30 camps in Sobatpur, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Dera Bugti and other areas. He claimed that the Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) and Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security (NDS) were behind funding and training of the BRA militants. A dozen militants belonging to the Marri tribe laid down their arms and surrendered before Security Forces in Kohlu District on February 1, reports The Express Tribune. “Twelve militants laid down their arms in the presence of Provincial Minister for Energy and Irrigation Jangayz Marri and Commandant Mewand Rifles Masroorur Rehman,” a statement issued by FC Balochistan said. It added that all 12 of them had been involved in anti-state activities. According to the FC Balochistan spokesman, the militants, while laying down their arms, promised not to support any anti-state elements and vowed to live a peaceful life as law-abiding citizens of Pakistan.

Four militants, including a key commander of a banned organisation, surrendered to Security Forces (SFs) at Sui tehsil (revenue unit) of Dera Bugti District in Balochistan on July 16, reports The News. The commander identified as Tota Khan Bugti laid down weapons along with three other militants before officials at a ceremony. Frontier Corps spokesman Khan Wasey said that Tota Khan Bugti was fighting against SFs for a long time in the area. The militants handed over 4 SMGs, 20 SMG magazines, a satellite phone and other equipment to SFs.

Four 'commanders' along with 24 other militants laid down their arms and surrendered to authorities during a function held by Provincial Minister Nawab Changaiz Marri on November 11, reports Dawn. “We appreciate that the militants have surrendered and have announced their decision to join peaceful lives,” said Marri. The militants who surrendered today belonged to various militant organisations and were active in Kohlu and other areas of Balochistan. “Those targeting innocent people cannot be referred to as ‘angry Baloch’, they should be called terrorists,” remarked Marri. "I stand for peace and development of the country,” he added.

Giving up the fight, four separatist militants, including two 'commanders' laid down their arms on October 14, reported The Express Tribune. “Commander of Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) Kodi Camp Javed Marri, Commander Ali Muhammad from Bambor Camp, Masood Marri and Irshad have given up fighting and joined the mainstream to help the Government in retaining peace in the region,” security sources said. The Government of Balochistan had announced in August the Balochistan peace package, urging militants to join mainstream politics, and work for the prosperity and development of the province. As many as Rs1.5 million were allocated for militants giving up the fight.
