Two brothers who had been kidnapped from the Daznab area of Panjgur District of Balochistan Province were found shot dead on January 26 in the Panchi Kalg area of the District, reports Dawn. Police said that the deceased Mohammad Sameer and Mohammad Zameer were shot at close range. Police said that on January 25 evening armed men barged into their house and abducted the two brothers and when another man offered resistance, they opened fire and killed him on the spot. On January 31, three road construction workers were allegedly abducted by Yung Aung faction of National Socialist Council of Nagaland – Khaplang (NSCN-K-YA) militants from Pumao in Longding District of Arunachal Pradesh, reports The Shillong Times. The three abducted workers identified as Banphua Wangpan, Hiren Konch and Ramasish Mahato were engaged in the construction of the Pumao Langkhow Road. Though one of the abductees Wangpan was released later, the other two are still held captivity. According to Longding superitendent of police V.H. On February 10, National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K) allegedly abducted two truck drivers from Kaiphundai area in Tamenglong District of Manipur, reports Northeast Now. Armed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres abducted a sub-engineer and a head mason, involved in bridge construction work under the Bedre Police Station limits in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on February 11, reports The Indian Express. The workers were also threatened by the Maoists to stop work at the site. Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sundarraj P, who is in-charge of Bastar range, said, “As per primary information, engineer Ashok Pawar (38) and worker Anand Yadav (27), both residents of neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, were taken hostage by Maoists from a construction site near Bedre-Nugur villages at around 1pm [IST] on Friday [February 11, 2022],” adds Hindustan Times. The bridge measuring 700 metres is one of the expansive bridges being built on the Indravati River to connect Bijapur and Narayanpur Districts in Bastar division. It will connect Bedre to Abujhmad, which is a threat to Maoists. Work on the bridge started 5 months ago and is still on the initial stages. Since it is a sensitive bridge, security has been provided to the construction workers.

Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres reportedly killed a man by slitting his throat suspecting him to be a ‘Police informer’ in Kandhamal District of Odisha on February 15, reports The New Indian Express. The deceased was identified as 30-year-old Kapila Majhi of Guma village under Bhandrangi Panchayat (village level local-self-Government institution) within Tumudibandh Police Station limits. Sources said Majhi was abducted by a group of at least 10 armed Maoists from his home late in the night on February 14. The rebels slit his throat before leaving the village. Majhi’s body was recovered in the morning. The Maoists also left some posters near his body.

Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres killed a Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) trooper in Dhanora village under Gangaloor Police Station limits in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on February 24, reports oneindia.com. According to the information, due to ill health, the CAF trooper Arjun Kudiyam had gone on leave to his home town and was getting his treatment while staying with his family in his home in Dhanora village. The Maoists abducted Kudiyam and killed him and threw the body on the road. Police recovered the dead body from the Reddy Road of Gangaloor-Madkampara area. The Gangaloor Area Committee of the Maoists has claimed the responsibility of killing the trooper by throwing a pamphlet along with the dead body. In the pamphlet, accusing the SFs, it has been written that those who come to our village, kill the tribals and loot the property of the house, will get the death penalty.
