Putshahi Kuloosa / Bandipora

ASI, identified as Kafeel Ahmad, was killed and three Policemen were injured in a fierce encounter between SFs and militants in Sopore town of Baramulla District. A HM spokesman while speaking to a local news service claimed responsibility for the attack on the SOG party at Sopore.

One top HM commander, identified as Javed Ahmad Mir alias Javed Salfi, was killed in an encounter with Police in Qazigund area of Anantnag District.

A divisional commander of HM, identified as Mubarak Ahmad Wani alias Major Saqib, was arrested by J&K Police and the CRPF in Hanji Dantar village near Anantnag town of Anantnag District.

A drug trafficking racket, associated with terrorist outfit HM, was neutralized in Nizamuddin area of South Delhi District in New Delhi as three traffickers were arrested with 10 kg heroin valued at INR 350 million.

A HM militant, identified as Arshad Hussain Rangrez (42) along with his Pakistani wife and three children were arrested after they reached Jammu District after entering into India from Nepal-Uttar Pradesh border.

UK in its consolidated list of organisations involved in terror activities or terror financing brought out on February 14, 2014 has named International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Babbar Khalsa and Khalistan Zindabad as organisations that requires total financial sanctions.

A HM militant, identified as Tauseef Ahmad Dar, was killed in an encounter with Army in Dalwan village in Chrar-i-Sharief area of Budgam District.

HM has distanced itself from its former senior leader Mast Gul, who has recently resurfaced as a Taliban commander in Pakistan.

HM militant, identified as Mohammad Ishaq alias Munna, was arrested by Army and J&K Police from Degwar Trewan area in Poonch District.

The Enforcement Directorate has attached properties of Syed Salahuddin, 'chief' of the banned outfit HM in Jammu and Kashmir.

Police detained six relatives of HM militants from Tral area in Pulwama District following the killing of a Sarpanch, his son and a Numbardar in two spate incidents on April 21. They were detained during raids at Dadsara, Hayen, Laribal, Ruthsuna and Hundura hamlets. Among those detained are a Policeman and an engineer.

A HM militant was arrested and some ammunition recovered from him in Baramulla District of north Kashmir. An AK-47 rifle, a magazine and 20 rounds of ammunition were recovered from Bhat, a resident of village Bhatpora in Kunzar area of Baramulla.

HM has put up posters in the Tral area of Pulwama District of J&K warning people and Gram Panchayat members against participating in the election. Tral is a part of Anantnag Parliamentary constituency, which is going to polls on April 24. The posters also warned the people against joining the election rallies of the mainstream political parties.

The UJC 'chief' Syed Salahudin hailed the people of south Kashmir for observing boycott of Lok Sabha elections. According to a statement issued by Syed Sadat Hussian, HM 'spokesman' Salahuddin stated that the people of Kashmir have given a clear message to New Delhi that they reject the polls under the Indian constitution.

An Army Officer, Major Mukund Vardarajan and two HM militants were killed and an Army jawan was critically injured in a gun battle in Shopian District. The South Kashmir Police Chief, Deputy Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said that the third militant is still alive. Vijay Kumar stated that three HM militants, Shabir Gorsi, Mohammad Asif and Abdul Haq were trapped in a house in Khan Mohalla in village Kareva Zora Malu in Shopian District after Army and Police cordoned off the village.

One HM militants, identified as Ravish-ul-Islam was arrested by Pathankot Police at Chakki Bank railway station in Pathankot District of Punjab.

Arrested HM militant, Ravish-ul-Islam revealed that some of the outfits in the Kashmir Valley were getting supply of weapons from the gangsters based in Bihar including sophisticated pistols and revolvers, which were being used in firing at the security personnel from point blank range.

Army and J&K Police recovered 30 kilograms of RDX and one IED from two separate hideouts in Gandoh area of Doda District. Sources said the hideouts might belong to militants of LeT and HM.

Three major militant outfits LeT, HM and JeM seem to have joined hands to send a large number of militants into J&K.

A HM militant, identified as Showkat Qasba, was killed in an encounter with SFs at Batpora Charsu area in Pulwama District.

SFs arrested an Over Ground Worker of HM, identified as Ali Mohammad Mir from Baramulla District. An unnamed Police officer said that Mir was involved in anti-election activities during Parliamentary polls early this year.

Intelligence sources said there was indeed specific information that terror outfit HM has been recruiting teenagers ahead of the Assembly elections in J&K.

Intelligence inputs have warned that HM, LeT and JeM militants may disrupt the ensuing assembly election in &K by attacking security convoys and political workers in south Kashmir.
