December 30: SFs in Bangladesh have
reportedly arrested ATTF 'chief' Ranjit Debbarma from Dhaka.

(37), have surrendered to security forces. Debbarma surrendered

September 6: United Front formed
by northeastern militants in Myanmar and resurgence of their activities
in Bangladesh was on the agenda of a three-day annual DGP Conference
that began in New Delhi.

July 14: SFs recovered two crude
bombs and one country made gun from a house at Chhota-Surma, a border
village in Dhalai District. The recovery was made from the house
of one Swaraj Das, who is absconding. Das had been arrested in 2002
for collaborating with the insurgents of banned ATTF.

January 29: NLFT and ATTF are shifting
their bases in Bangladesh closer to the Myanmar border. Further,
the HNLC and GNLA, of Meghalaya are shifting their bases in Bangladesh
towards the Tripura border.

January 22: CorCom of seven militant
outfits of Manipur have joined hands with five other Militant groups
of the Northeastern and called for a mass boycott of Republic Day
celebrations on January 26 in the entire northeast. Five other outfits
include the ULFA-ATF, HNLC, KLO, NLFT and ATTF.

December 3: The Centre is thinking
of the withdrawal of the ban on two militant outfits of the State
namely the ATTF and NLFT, in view of the decline in insurgent activities
in the State. Sources said the Centre had recently constituted a
tribunal headed by sitting Delhi High Court judge Bipin Sanghi to
go into the issue and make suggestions. The tribunal had subsequently
sent questionnaires to state governments and security agencies seeking
their views on the issue.

October 20: A Police report said
that 74 people, mostly tribals, were abducted by NLFT and ATTF militants
this year in Tripura, as against 114 and 121 people in 2010 and
2009 respectively.

Union Home Ministry said that terrorist
outfits NLFT, ATTF, ULFA, NDFB and Meitei extremist outfits of Manipur
continue to have close links between themselves to carry out subversive
activities.

October 14: An unofficial report
said that the ATTF HQ located at Satcherri in Bangladesh had recently
fallen to NLFT following most of the remaining ATTF militants joining
hands with their rival-NLFT. In this regard, unofficial sources
said, "The process began last year when ATTF suffered a vertical
split with Sachindra Debbarma launching a coup against the president
Ranjit Debbarma. Both the ATTF and NLFT were already suffering severe
financial crisis and loss of manpower and hold following steady
and continuous surrenders of top leaders and lower level cadres
with arms".

September 29: During the biannual
conference of BSF and BGB held in Dhaka from September 25 to 30,
the BSF handed over a fresh list of Indian insurgents hiding in
Bangladesh to the BGB and demanded action against them even as the
latter ruled out presence of rebels in Bangladesh. BSF Director-General
Raman Srivastava on September 30 said, "BSF has furnished a fresh
list of camps and hideouts of Indian insurgents hiding in Bangladesh
soil like NLFT , ULFA, ATTF, NSCN-IM, NDFB, HNLC, PLA, and UNLF."

September 25: DGP K Saleem Ali said
the insurgency is still a major challenge when it comes to internal
security in Tripura though it suffered a lot during the past few
years. DGP further said that ATTF, one of the frontline insurgent
groups is on the brink of collapse as its archrival NLFT had snatched
away almost all weapons, according to intelligence inputs and the
morale of NLFT is also very low as its cadre strength has scaled
down to 100-120. However, the DGP warned that they (NLFT) are desperately
trying to boost the strength by recruiting new guys during the winter
keeping in mind of the next Assembly election slated for 2013. Saleem
Ali further said, "We have credential inputs about the existence
of around 20 hideouts in Bangladesh in spite of their efforts to
flush out insurgents holed up in their soil. There are reports of
procuring Bangladesh ration cards by some rebel leaders and staying
there with their families".

September 14: DNARSF declared that
it will start a 48 hour long hunger strike from September 16 in
front of the Civil Secretariat in Agartala. DNARSF alleges that
a section of surrendered militants belonging to ATTF and NLFT had
not been accepted as returnees by the State Government and they
did not get any assistance to restore normal life.

August 19 The merger between NLFT
and ATTF for united arms struggle has been virtually derailed, revealed
Utpal Debbarma, 'foreign secretary' of NLFT-BM. He further revealed
that the NLFT still has a strong base in Bangladesh with five to
seven hideouts operating and most of the NLFT leaders still live
in Bangladesh along with their families but the outfit holds important
meeting in Myanmar instead of Bangladesh while NLFT has no hideout
in Myanmar. He said that he used to receive money from different
construction agencies engaged in erection of barbed wire fencing,
border road and development works in interior areas.

July 9: Setting aside all differences,
the outlawed ATTF has merged with another banned outfit al NLFT.
The ATTF suffered a vertical split
recently over leadership issue after a major group openly opposed
Ranjit Debbarma, 'president' of the ATTF recently. The feud has reduced
the strength of the outfit considerably and Ranjit Debbarma finding
no other alternative virtually 'surrendered' to NLFT.
Meanwhile, Tripura Police claimed
that the villagers, who were abducted by the militants from a village
in Tripura earlier this month, are presently in Bangladesh, reports
Daily India. As reported earlier, a group of heavily armed NLFT militants
abducted six people, including a government employee on July 1.

July 1: Suspected militants of NLFT
abducted six civilians, including a former ATTF militant Kulendra
Reang (55), from Ujanbari Reang Para under Nutun Bazar Police Station,
South Tripura District.

March 3: BSF DG Raman Srivastava
said that BSF gave BDR a list of camps of Indian militant outfits
operating in North East and will discuss the issue of presence of
the militant leaders of these groups there. He said that we gave
them the list of Indian militant outfit camps, including ATTF and
NLFT and the names of militant leaders who are still using the soil
of the Bangladesh.

February 17: A splinter group of
ATTF headed by Sachin Debberma has ‘reportedly’ joined hands with
its arch rival NLFT. Sources confirmed that ATTF suffered a vertical
split over sharing of funds leading to exit of self-styled militant
leader Sachin Debbarma from the outfit about one-and-half month
ago. According to latest intelligence inputs, a group of 14-15 hardcore
cadres of ATTF headed by Sachin Debbarma merged with NLFT to carry
on the subversive activities in Tripura.

February 2: The NLFT
got reinforced with inclusion of a large section of dissented cadres
of the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF). Sachin Debbarma, ‘self-styled
home minister’ of the outfit is known to have joined NLFT with a
bunch of followers following a massive tussle with ATTF supremo
Ranjit Debbarma. The entire squad is presently stationed at Khagrachari
camp of NLFT, said sources.

December 26: ATTF has
suffered a vertical split. Three top leaders of the outfit – its
self styled president Ranjit Debbarma, armed wing chief Chitta Debbarma
and central committee member Rahul Debbarma were ousted from the
outfit in a coup led by Sachin Reang. This is for the first time
that ATTF suffered a split. Reang, who claimed himself to be the
acting president of the ATTF in a statement said, "Ranjit Debbarma,
Chitta Debbarma and Rahul Debbarma were indulging in large scale
financial corruption and acting like dictators."

September 29: Tripura Government
extended for another six months the Armed Forces Special Powers
Act (AFSPA), citing militant activities along the border with Bangladesh.
"In some areas of the state bordering Bangladesh, the National
Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF)
are active," an unnamed official said. Of the 64 Police Stations
in Tripura, the AFSPA is in force in 34 Police Stations and partially
in six since 1997.

July 2: At least 13
ATTF militants surrendered before the Assam Rifles (AR) in Agartala,
according to Tripura info. The militants also laid down a huge cache
of 15 firearms that included AK series rifles, SLRs, wireless sets,
ammunitions and explosives. The militants were led by self-styled
‘Captain’ Jagadish Debbarma alias Jester.
The ATTF militants,
AR claimed, had fled from their Satcherri camp in Bangladesh recently.
They crossed over the India-Bangladesh border and reached Daigyabari
area in West District. From there they contacted the Border Security
Force (BSF) and Police. The border guards then contacted the AR
for surrender. This was the biggest surrender of the Tripura militants
in recent time.

June 24: The 10 NLFT militants escaped
from their camps in different places of Bangladesh and crossed over
to India and surrendered before the BSF and Assam Rifles troopers
in different places of Tripura, a Police spokesman said. "The
tribal guerrillas during interrogation told the police and para-military
troopers that they fled from their base camps in Bangladesh few
days back following raids by Bangladesh security forces," the
spokesman said, adding that the militants have been facing fund
crisis.
The report adds that with this,
since June 21, 16 Bangladeshi trained NLFT cadres have laid down
their arms. "During interrogation of the militants, we received
vital information about militants from Northeast India taking shelter
in the Bangladeshi territory," the Police official told reporters.
In 2010, around 60 militants of the NLFT and ATTF outfits left Bangladesh
and surrendered to the Indian SFs.

June 15: Tripura Chief Minister
Manik Sarkar informed State Legislative Assembly that since May
1993 last to 2010 a total of 7992 armed cadres surrendered from
all militants groups active in Tripura. Giving details of militant
activities across the State, Sarkar said that militants’ activity
has almost come to end. About 175 to 185 cadres of NLFT militants
are still underground and 35 to 40 ATTF cadres more are active in
militant camps, he mentioned. Chief Minister also said, during the
financial year 2009-10, seven NLFT militants and five ATTF cadres
were arrested by the Security Forces (SFs) and 225 more cadres from
same groups laid down their arms before SFs. In the same period,
militants also killed nine persons in 20 militant attacks, he added.
Chief Minister also in his written reply said, altogether 21 persons
were killed and 59 persons abducted in 113 militants attacks in
the year 2007, 10 persons were killed and more 32 civilians were
abducted in 80 militant attacks during the year 2008. In the year
2009, nine SFs were killed in an ambush by NLFT cadres at remote
bordering Thalcherra road under Dhalai District, stated the Chief
Minister. In the same year, militants abducted seven civilians in
their registered 24 attacks, said Sarkar.

June 6: Sentinel reports
that 13 militant organizations from the Northeast States of Assam,
Manipur, Tripura and Meghalaya figure in the list of banned organizations
as it appears in the website of the Union Home Ministry (MHA). The
ULFA heads the list. The other outfits were: NDFB, People's Liberation
Army (PLA), and United National Liberation Front (UNLF), People's
Revolutionary party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), Kangleipak Communist
Party (KCP), Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL), Manipur People's Liberation
Front (MPLF), Revolutionary People's Front (RPF), ATTF, National
Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) Hynniewtrep National Liberation
Council (HNLC) and Achik National Volunteer Council (ANVC).

May 21: Two hardcore militants of
the ATTF and NLFT surrendered before Assam Rifles in two separate
places in Tripura. Police said that the ATTF militant, identified
as Miren Debbarma, surrendered before the Assam Rifles camp at Chakma
Para in West District.

May 3: The
NDFB was also maintaining close ties with different anti-India groups
having bases in Bangladesh. According to an assessment by the SFs,
at least a hundred trained cadres of the outfit are still in Assam,
while, around 50 cadres must be in Bangladesh. Sources further said
that the NDFB launched joint operations with the United Liberation
Front of Asom (ULFA) from time to time, but the outfit also maintained
close ties with other groups like (National Socialist Council of
Nagaland-Isak-Muivah) NSCN-IM, United National Liberation Front
(UNLF), ATTF and National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT)
etc, as well as with some other anti-India groups in the neighbouring
country. Sources revealed that under pressure in Bangladesh, anti-talk
faction of the NDFB recently established a camp in Myanmar and is
located near a camp of Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL).

April 25: A frontline
militant of banned militant outfit ATTF, identified as Barun Debbarma
(29) of Kalyanpur, surrendered before the Police in West District.
He deposited one locally-made .22 revolver. He was involved in several
crimes, including killings and abductions. He also revealed that
following large-scale desertion and surrenders over the past few
years, the ATTF was now raising a force of women cadres to launch
a fresh offensive against civilians and SFs.

April 11: Two ATTF cadres, who had
deserted the outfit's Satcherri camp in Habiganj District of Bangladesh,
surrendered before the Jirania Police in West District of Tripura.
They were identified as Khemijay Debbarma and Samprai Debbarma.
The two surrendered ATTF cadres revealed
in detail the privation and hardship in outfit's camps in Sylhet and
Habiganj Districts and Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh. The duo
also revealed that ATTF had taken a major initiative to raise a force
of women cadres to launch a fresh offensive against civilians and
SFs. They said that altogether 187 women cadres of the outfit are
being trained in Tarabon, Kalu Adam, Pancherri and Bandarban areas
in Bangladesh's Chittagong Hill Tracts over the past two months. But
those camps would be shifted to the nearby Arakan areas of Myanmar
in case the Bangladesh Government launched counter-insurgency operation.
Source said, "The duo told us that
96 of the women cadres have finished training and are currently training
others. They are being trained in the use of arms, tactics of guerrilla
warfare and even the technique of making bombs." The sources, however,
expressed concern over the revelation that officers of the Bangladesh
Rifles (BDR) attend and supervise the final phase of training in the
use of heavy arms to guide the instructors. ATTF 'chief' Ranjit Debbarma
had visited the training camps of women cadres and in a speech told
them that their job would be not only to fight SFs but lay "honey-traps"
for leaders of the rival National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT).
Sources also said that Ranjit Debbarma is trying to strike a deal
with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM)
to buy arms.

March 30: An
ATTF cadre, Bipindra Debbarma (28), surrendered before
SFs at Duski in West District. He deposited one pistol with four
rounds of live cartridges.

March 24: Over 1,200
surrendered cadres of the NLFT and ATTF launched a 72-hour hunger
protest demonstration in Tripura, asking the Government rehabilitate
them. They are seeking immediate economic rehabilitation of all
former insurgents. The militants had surrendered to the Tripura
Government at different times in the past three years. "We surrendered
long back, but the State Government is yet to fulfil its promise
to rehabilitate us," said Achai Kashrung Jamatia, leader of the
protesting former militants. "If we do not get a specific and positive
assurance from the State Government about our rehabilitation within
the next 72 hours, we will extend our hunger strike," he added.

February 9: Three ATTF
militants, identified as Kamal Debbarma, Sukesh Debbarma and Rupendra
Tripura, surrendered before the SFs at Raisyabari in Dhalai District.

February 7: A frontline ATTF militant,
identified as Nayanjoy Tripura (26) of Raishyabari, surrendered
at Gandacherra Police Station.

February 5: Three ATTF
militants, identified as Adhin Debbarma (26), Bipul Debbarma
(22) and Soumendra Debbarma (25) of Khowai sub-division in West
District, surrendered before the State Police.

January 18: An ATTF militant, Biswamani
Debbarma (36) of Mandai, surrendered before the Police in South
District. He deposited a 9-mm factory made pistol, a 9-mm magazine,
four 9-mm rounds and a Bangladeshi SIM card.

January 8: Two ‘lieutenants’ of
ATTF ‘supremo’ Ranjit Debbarma surrendered before Security Forces
(SFs) along with their wives at Khowai in West District. The surrendered
cadres were identified as Raj Kumar Debbarma (38) alias Anthony,
a self-styled ‘major’ and ‘chief’ of the outfit's political wing
Tripura Peoples Democratic Front (TPDF) and Biswajit Debbarma (36)
alias Bukhrai. During surrender, they deposited one desktop computer
with accessories, several incriminating documents of the banned
group and other household goods. Police sources said that surrendered
Raj Kumar as ‘Chief’ of the political wing was also the editor of
ATTF's monthly magazine, ‘Choba’, in Kokborok language.

December 5: The ban on the NLFT
and ATTF was extended. The ban on the two outfits was enforced in
1997 at the peak of militancy in the State. The report adds that
a notification of the Delhi High Court’s Unlawful Activities (Prevention)
Tribunal in this regard was issued recently. The Tribunal comprised
G. S. Sistani of Delhi High Court.

November 17: Two ATTF militants, identified as 35-year
old 'Second Lieutenant' Samparai Debbarma and Chamyjoy Tripura (35),
surrendered along with their wives before the Tripura Police at
capital Agartala in the night. The militants had reportedly fled
from the Satcharri base camp in Bangladesh.

October 8: The surrendered militants of the ATTF
and the Tribal Liberation Army threatened to launch a 72-hour hunger
strike from October 12 after they failed to get proper rehabilitation.
Sailen Kumar Reang, General Secretary of the surrendered ATTF militants,
and Padhya Debbarma, the TLA General Secretary, informed Chief Minister
Manik Sarkar on their agitation plans to fulfil their demands. They
also threatened that over 100 surrendered militants were fully prepared
to carry on the hunger strike if the State Government doesn't take
any meaningful steps to address their grievances. Both the factions
of the surrendered militants have been demanding allotment of residential
quarter at the new Kunjaban Township, an upmarket area in capital
Agartala, and a stipend of INR 4000 per month until Government service
is availed.

September 22: Two ATTF militants surrendered before
the Assam Rifles personnel at Maharanipur village in West District.

September 17: At least six militants, including
a woman, surrendered before the SFs in two separate places in the
West District. Police sources said four ATTF militants managed to
escape from their hideout in Bangladesh and surrendered before the
35th Battalion of the Assam Rifles in Dhaighyabari under
Sidhai Police Station in West District. The surrendered militants
were identified as 'major' Janu Kumar Debbarma (35), Kamal Debbarma
(30), Uttara Debbarma (27) and Samuel Debbarma (31). They also deposited
two wireless radio set during the surrender.

August 10: Nine ATTF militants, including four women,
surrendered before the SFs in the Khowai town of West District after
fleeing from their Satchari camp in the Sylhet District of Bangladesh.
"The Bangladesh-trained militants led by their self-styled 'captain'
Budha Debbarma (27) surrendered before BSF and Assam Rifles personnel,"
Police spokesman Nepal Das said. They also deposited a cache of
arms and ammunition, including AK series rifles, one mortar and
foreign made ammunition. With this latest surrender, 17 militants
of the banned ATTF have surrendered their arms and ammunition during
the past one week after deserting their camps in neighbouring Bangladesh.
"We have managed to escape from our camps in Sylhet District after
Bangladesh launched anti-insurgency operations in different parts
of that country. Some more guerrillas may sneak into Tripura any
time from across the border," Debbarma confessed before the BSF
personnel.

August 5: Eight ATTF militants surrendered unconditionally
and without arms before the BSF personnel at the BSF sector headquarters
at Teliamura, about 45 kilometres from capital Agartala. Official
sources said the cadres, recruited between 1998 and 2007, were staying
at Satchhari, stated to be the ATTF headquarters in the Sylhet District
of Bangladesh.

August 3: Four ATTF militants, including a woman
cadre, surrendered before the BSF personnel at Daighyabari in West
District.

July 17: An ATTF militant, identified as Ratan Debbarma
(34), surrendered before the 38th battalion of Assam
Rifles at Dhwajanagar camp in West Tripura District. During the
surrender, he deposited 20 rounds of live cartridges of AK-47 rifle.

June 16: Three militants of the ATTF and NLFT outfits
surrendered before the SF personnel. Police sources said an unidentified
NLFT militant surrendered before the Assam Rifles at Kakracharri
in West Tripura District and deposited one Chinese grenade and few
cartridges of AK series rifles. Another NLFT militant, identified
as Siponjoy, surrendered before the Gandacherra Sub-Divisional Police
Officer (SDPO) at Ratan Nagar in Dhalai District and deposited one
locally-made gun and some Bangladeshi currency. In the third surrender,
an ATTF militant, identified as Sanjoy, surrendered before the SDPO
of Teliamura Sub-Division in West Tripura District.

May 3: One ATTF militant, identified as Dhirendra
Debbarma (19), surrendered in front of the Border Security Force
in Tripura. Police said Dhirendra, a resident of Salema in Dhalai
District, surrendered along with one AK 66 rifle, three magazines
and 68 bullets and 565 Bangladeshi currencies. Dhirendra revealed
that he was forced to surrender because of a severe resource crisis
in their base camps in Bangladesh.

April 02: The bomb squad personnel of Tripura Police
recovered an IED from Amar area in the North District along the
Tripura-Bangladesh border while a blast took place during BSF patrolling
in the area. BSF sources said that militants of the ATTF, camping
in Bangladesh, were suspected to be responsible for the blast. However
there was no report of any casualty in the blast.

March 19: One ATTF militant, identified
as Rupen Debbarma (40), who carried head money of INR 500000, surrendered
before the Security Forces at Simna in the North District along
with his wife.

March 14: Two ATTF militants, identified
as Khudiram Debbarma (31) and Lokhendra Debbarma (29), surrendered
before the BSF at Ambassa in the Dhalai District. They also deposited
eight rounds of AK-47, two Nokia mobile sets and Bangladeshi currencies
worth 883 Taka.

March 12: One ATTF militant, identified
as Charan Thung Malsum (25) of Takarjala village near capital Agartala,
surrendered before the Police at Balua village in the West District.
According to Police sources, Charan escaped from Satchari ATTF camp
in Bangladesh a couple days earlier. While surrendering he deposited
one AK-56 rifle, three magazines, 74 rounds of AK series rifles,
one wireless set and some Bangladeshi currency.
Replying to questions raised by
the opposition Members of Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Manik
Sarkar said, that during the last three years as many as 871 militants
belonging to the ATTF, NLFT and BNCT have surrendered. Out of the
871 who surrendered between 2006 and January 2009, only 367 deposited
arms and ammunition, he added. The Chief Minister also said that
approximately 180 to 200 NLFT and 80 to 90 ATTF militants are still
underground. The reduction of militancy could very well be gauged
from the fact that while in 2007 there 133 attacks, in 2008 it came
down to 80, he added .

March 7: one self styled
‘sergeant’ of the ATTF, identified as Sushil Debbarma alias Ali,
laid down his arms (one locally made revolver with live rounds)
before the Police at Kalyanpur in the West District.

February 10: The Officer-in-Charge
of Champahower Police Station, Shyamal Debbarma, was injured at
Tuibaklaipara village, 12 kilometres from the Police Station in
the West District, when the ATTF militants opened fire at Police
personnel who were returning from a search operation at Nandakumarpara
and Tuibaklai Khowai area, reports Telegraph.

January 30: The BSF foiled an attempt by a group
of about 11 ATTF militants to infiltrate by arresting the leader
of the intruding group, Amrit Debbarma, at Boro Bakhai area in the
West District. Later the arrested militant was handed over to Champahawoa
Police. The other militants in the group, however, managed to escape.

January 10: 24 militants, including 22 NLFT cadres
and two cadres of the ATTF, surrendered before the Security Forces
in West Tripura District after fleeing from their base camps in
Bangladesh. While the NLFT militants surrendered to the commandant
of 15th battalion of Assam Rifles at Hrangkhalpara, the ATTF cadres
surrendered to the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Khowai. Police
sources said that a food crisis in the Bangladesh camps and non-payment
by the leaders of the militant outfits to the rank and file were
the reasons behind the surrender. The NLFT cadres deposited three
revolvers, two Chinese grenades, live cartridges and some documents
of the outfit. The ATTF militants surrendered a Japanese wireless
set.

January 5: Two top commanders of the ATTF, identified
as 'captain' Michael and 'lieutenant' Royal Debbarma, and their
wives surrendered before Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Jirania
in the West Tripura District. Their children were with them at the
time of surrender. Both the militants carried cash rewards of INR
2, 50, 000 each on their heads and had red corner notices issued
against them by Interpol. Their wives, too, were cadres of the ATTF.
"Our records say that they had perpetrated savageries on people
by massacring 26 civilians at Kalyanpur in December 1996, 19 at
Panchabati in November 1999, 21 at Simna Colony in May 2003 and
32 people in simultaneous attacks on Kamal Nagar and Bara Lunga
villages under Teliamura subdivision in 2003 besides many others,"
said the Deputy Inspector General (Operations), Nepal Das. The political
wing of the ATTF, Tripura Peoples Democratic Front, stated that
Michael and Royal had surrendered with permission from the highest
leadership of the outfit.

December 28: The Police submitted a charge sheet
against 12 persons for their alleged involvement in the Agartala
serial blasts on October 1, reports Assam Tribune. The investigation
revealed that the ATTF had carried out the serial blasts. Of the
accused, Dinesh Debbarma, Bikash Debbarma, Sachindra Debbarma, Kumariya
Debbarma, Santanu Chowdhury, Budhi Debbarma and Amal Acharjee are
in judicial custody. Five others, including four of them identified
as Satyaranjan Debbarma, Jagadish Debbarma, Rajendra Debbarma and
Baman Debbarma, are still at large. All the accused persons were
charged under Sections 326, 307, 427 of IPC and Arms Act.

December 5: Five ATTF militants, identified as Priya
Ranjan Debbarma, Manoj Debbarma, Ratan Sadhan Jamatia, Ananta Debbarma
and Usha Ranjan Debbarma, surrendered before the Assam Rifles at
Hrankhalpara camp under Teliamura police station in the West Tripura
district. They laid down one carbine with one magazine, 95 rounds
of ammunitions, 25 rounds of .38 ammunition and one hand grenade.

December 3: Three ATTF militants, identified as
Sailen Debbarma, Dherendra Debbarma and Manoj Debbarma, surrendered
before the Tripura State Rifles and Assam Rifles personnel at Nandibairagibari
of Champak Nagar police station in the West Tripura district. They
deposited one AK-56 rifle with three magazines and 90 bullets.

November 29: Three ATTF militants, identified as
Madan Debbarma, Subendra Debbarma and Chandra Debbarma, surrendered
before the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Khowai at Dinakobrapara
police station in the West Tripura district. They laid down two
AK-47 rifles, two hundred live cartridges and six magazines.

November 27: 48 surrendered militants
of the ATTF from the Lovstori area under Udaipur subdivision and
41 militants from the NLFT from the Lachi area under Shantir Bazar
subdivision were on a fast-unto-death demanding withdrawal of all
pending cases against them.

November 17: A leader of the UDF party, identified
as Biswamani Debbarma, was arrested by the police from his residence
at Ujay Abhoynagar area for helping the ATTF in its recruitment
drive. Police said that Biswamani handed over three tribal youths
to the ATTF 'area commander' Michael Debbarma at Tulashikhar, a
remote hideout in the West Tripura district, on November 2 after
giving them a false assurance that they would be given jobs under
the Mizoram Government.

November 6: The Tripura Government has submitted
a comprehensive report to the Union Home Ministry on terrorists
backing militant outfits in the region, especially Asom-based ULFA
and Tripura-based ATTF, State Home Department sources said. According
to reports, the issue was also discussed at a high-level security
review meeting, chaired by National Security Advisor M K Narayanan,
with police chiefs of the region. It was also revealed at the meeting
that the blasts in Assam were reportedly carried out by Bangladesh-based
HuJI in coordination with local outfit ULFA and serial bomb blasts
in Agartala were attributed to ATTF-ULFA combine. The report also
states that Pakistan-based ISI, Al-Qaeda and Bangladesh-based HuJI.
The militants were using Sonamura, Agartala and Kailashahar in Tripura
and Karimganj and towns of upper Asom for entering India.

October 22: One Tapan Debbarma, a tribal youth was
abducted at gun point by a group of armed ATTF militants from Musrai
Para village in the Champahowar police station of West Tripura district.
After the abduction, the SFs of Tripura State Rifles and Assam Rifles
rushed to the spot and launched an operation to rescue him. The
SFs also recovered a grenade, one factory made revolver, nine bullets
of 9 mm pistol and other incriminating documents from a militant
hideout in Sikaribari jungle under the same police station.

October 17: A joint team of CID and Tripura Police
arrested a key suspect of October 1 Agartala blast, identified as
Kumariya Debbarma, from Duski area under Teliamura police station
in the West Tripura district. Kumariya was operating under Sachindra
Debbrma, an ATTF militant and the keyman of Agartala serial blast.
Kumariya was reportedly asked to trigger the blast at Motorstand
area in Agartala.

October 15: In a major breakthrough,
Tripura police arrested two persons described as key participants
in the October 1 Agartala serial blasts and recovered the mobile
set used as remote for the blasts. Police said that the main accused
Bikash Debbarma was arrested from Khowai along with the explosive
supplier Dinesh Debbarma, a surrendered ATTF militant.

October 14: Investigations have
pointed at the involvement of ULFA in the October 1 serial blast
in the Tripura capital, Agartala. Interrogation of ATTF collaborators
Shanti Debbarma, Angad Santhal and a third arrested person, Brajamohan
Debbarma the father of hardcore ATTF militant Surjya has revealed
that ULFA militants had provided primary training in the use of
explosives to a group of ATTF militants, besides supplying them
bomb-making materials. CID’s report said that Surjya Debbarma masterminded
the blasts. The investigation further revels that a group of ATTF
activists, including Surjya, had undergone primary training in use
of explosives under the guidance of ULFA, before being intensively
trained by a group of BDR and Directorate General of Forces Intelligence
(DGFI) officers at Muksinghat near Chittagong town in Bangladesh
in August and September. The ATTF had received a consignment of
bomb-making materials from ULFA in their hideout at Satcherri just
across the border in Simna area of Sadar (north) and the materials
had been carried across the border by two tea garden labourers of
Satcherri, Mohan Munda and Mangal Munda, under the supervision of
Surjya.

October 13: Tripura Police arrested
two tribal youths, barely 24 hours after busting their rented house
where explosives for the October 1 serial blasts were allegedly
assembled. On October 12, CID raided the house at Bhati Abhaynagar
area of Agartala where these three tribal youth were staying. On
October 12-night police picked up a worker of the INPT, one 50-year-old
Budhi Debbarma. He had introduced the two tribal youths who had
rented the house of Satyajit Roy. The tribal youths Shanti Debbarma
and Angad Santhal were arrested from Baigyabari under the Sidhai
police station in West Tripura. The police suspect them to be collaborators
of the ATTF.

October 12: The personnel of CID, investigating
the Agartala serial blasts achieved a major breakthrough when they
neutralised a hideout of the ATTF, where bombs used the explosion
were prepared. A team of police led by Superintendent of Police,
West Tripura district, KV Sreejesh carried out a raid in the house
of Satyajit Roy at Bhati Abhaynagar in northwest Agartala, which
was later described as a hideout of the ATTF militants and their
collaborators to assemble explosive devices with timers. During
the raid, a bomb diagram, one memory card of mobile set and other
ingredients used in making bombs were recovered. On being questioned,
the house owner said that three tribal youths took the room on rent
few days back and fled away on October 4 without informing him.
West Tripura district Superintendent of Police, KV Sreejesh said
that this raid was a major breakthrough to establish the link between
ATTF and HUJI of Bangladesh behind October 1 serial blasts in Agartala.
A first class Judicial Magistrate, PC Biswas granted
interim bail up to November 7 to Imam Billal Ahmed, who had been
arrested by CID personnel in connection with the Agartala serial
blasts.

October 10: According to the Crime Investigation
Department (CID), the preliminary investigations into the October
1 serial blasts in state capital Agartala indicate a nexus between
the Jihadi elements and the ATTF. A team of CID arrested Santanu
Chowdhury, owner of Renuka Studio at Panchabati Market under Sidhai
area, a stronghold of the ATTF on October 8 for selling an Aircel
SIM card to Bijoy Debbarma (a fake name) without any valid identity
document. This SIM card had been found in a live bomb recovered
and subsequently defused in Agartala on October 1. A joint team
of CID and Tripura Police arrested three persons, identified as
Uttam Debbarma, Prafulla Debbarma and Hassi Debbarma, all hailing
from the Sidhai area on charges of involvement in the blast.

October 3: Ranjit Debbarma, a self styled leader
of the ATTF surrendered to the special police branch in Rantanpur
area of Khowai subdivision in West Tripura district.

September 14: BDR personnel handed over 18 ATTF
militants to the BSF authorities at Khowai Immigration Centre in
West Tripura district. All the militants were reportedly detained
by the BDR from Satcherri hideout in Bangladesh in October 2004
with arms. Later, they were produced before a Bangladeshi court.
During trial, the court held all the 18 militants guilty under the
Arms Act and awarded them three years rigorous imprisonment. About
two months back, they were released from jail.
Security forces recovered a sum of INR 35,000 from a militant hide
out in Brajabinodinipur area near Narendrapur tea estate under Mohanpur
sub-division. The TSR personnel got information that a group of
ATTF militants collecting subscription from the villagers. A huge
contigent of TSR jawans cordoned the entire area and started the
search operation. The militants managed to escape leaving the extorted
amount behind.

August 26: Two ATTF cadres are arrested by the Border
Security Force personnel at Joshitilla in the Dhalai district. 20
live AK-47 cartridges are recovered from their possession.

August 18: Two ATTF militants, Jorai Debbarma and
Esrai Debbarma, are shot dead by the Tripura State Rifles personnel
during an encounter at Ekcherri under Sidhai police station in the
West Tripura district. Two AK-47 rifles and three magazines are
recovered from the encounter site.

July 25: An ATTF militant is killed in an encounter
with police at Gandabasti in West Tripura district.

July 21: The Tripura State Rifles personnel recovered
arms and explosives after an encounter with the ATTF militants at
Tuihaching in the West Tripura district. The seizure included an
AK-56 rifle, a magazine with 28 rounds of ammunition, one 9-mm pistol
and a bayonet. However, the militants manage to escape into the
forest.

June 6: Two ATTF militants, identified as Shyamal
Debbarma alias Bukhatai and Jiti Debbarma alias Baroa, surrendered
before the security forces at 2nd Battalion Tripura State Rifles
Headquarter at R.K Nagar in the West Tripura district.

Champai and Sunil Debbarma, surrendered before the security forces

March 27: Two ATTF militants surrendered
before the sub-divisional police officer of Kalyanpur in Khowai
after escaping from the group's hideout at Satcherri in the Habiganj
district of Bangladesh. Police sources said the militants, identified
as Nitai Debbarma and Rajendra Debbarma, deposited two Chinese grenades.

March 22: Three ATTF militants were
arrested from the Kalyanpur and Mandai areas under Khowai and Sadar
East subdivisions in the West Tripura district. Police sources said
the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel arrested two ATTF cadres,
Badal Debbarma and Shukramoni Debbarma, when they stormed the residence
of a tribal farmer, Ramani Debbarma, and asked for INR 10,000. Another
ATTF cadre, Khachuk Debbarma, was arrested by the TSR personnel
from the Dushki area under Kalyanpur police station. While four
of his accomplices managed to escape, one US-made pistol and three
rounds of ammunition were recovered from him.

in the West Tripura district and deposited one .38 revolver.

operation in an interior part of the Radhapur police station under
West Tripura district.

October 21: At least nine leaders
of the Communist Party of India-Marxist party, including Sabita
Debbarma, chairperson of the Paschim Kunjaban Village Committee,
are assaulted by the ATTF militants at Rambabu Bazaar under Khowai
police station in the West Tripura district. Tripura Police said
that an ATTF leader, Ripan Debbara, and his associates are involved
in the incident. The militants attacked the villagers for demanding
a security camp at Rambabu Bazaar.

September 29: Tripurainfo
reports that Ranjit Debbarma, ‘president’ of the ATTF, has stated
in an online interview to a Website that the NLFT and ATTF are operating
jointly. "The present leadership of NLFT is running the organization
along correct lines. This has made it possible for us to work together.
As of now our relations are very good," Debbarma says. "TPDF (political
wing of the ATTF) and NLFT are different organizations; their main
objective is one and the same - restoration of Tripura´s sovereign
independence. Some leaders of the NLFT were self-centred and promoted
selfish interests. They were not genuine revolutionaries. That leadership
has gone now," he added.

Ranjit Debbarma, is arrested from Basantapara under Mungiakami police
station in the West Tripura district, on charge of serving a extortion
notice to the villagers.

September 12: One ATTF ‘area commander’,
Upayan Debbarma, is killed and another cadre, Ranjit Debbarma alias
Birendra Debbarma, is injured in an encounter with the security
forces at Tamakari area in the West Tripura district. One pistol
and several rounds of cartridges were recovered from their possession.

as Ashok Debbarma, is killed in an encounter with the Tripura State
Rifles personnel at Nandakumarpara in the West Tripura district.

March 6: Two Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel,
Samir Choudhury and Aloke Das, are killed and two others, Shyama
Chandra Debbarma and Sukdeb Tripura, are seriously injured in an
ambush by ATTF militants at Binan Hazaripara under Champahawr police
station in Khowai subdivision of West Tripura district. Militants
manage to decamp with two AK 47 rifles.

March 2: Two militants of the ATTF and NLFT, identified
as Biraha Kumar Jamatia alias Yakharia and Geeta Tripura alias Kaplop,
surrender at Teliamura in the West Tripura district. They deposit
two 38 factory-made revolvers along with six live rounds of 38 ball
ammunitions. The report adds that 21 militants surrendered before
the 15 Assam Rifles alone in the last four months.

February 25: Two ATTF collaborators, identified
as Jitendra Reang and Gamsai Reang, are arrested from Balarampara
areas under Kachucherra police station in the Dhalai district.

February 24: An ATTF militant, Sonaicharan Debbarma,
is arrested from South Goklunagar village under Teliamura police
station in the West Tripura district. Debbarma was reportedly involved
in the massacre of 15 non-tribal people at Kalyanpur under Khowai
sub-division on August 14, 2003.

February 24: Two ATTF collaborators are arrested,
while they come to extort ransom worth INR 35,000 from a bottling
plant at Kalagachia under Sidhai police station in the West Tripura
district.

January 25: Seven militants of the ATTF and NLFT
surrender at Hrankhalpara under Teliamura police station in the
West Tripura district. They deposited two 9mm Pistols with 10 rounds,
one 9mm Carbine with 10 rounds, two 9mm auto Pistols with 9 rounds
and 50 rounds of 303-rifle. The militants were identified as Satya
Ranjan Debbarma, Jogal Debbarma, Ashis Kumar Debbarma, Tapan Debbarma,
Ashesh Debbarma, Indra Mohan Malsum and Satya Ranjan Debbarma.

December 27: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar,
while addressing personnel of the Border Security Force at Silacherri
Border outpost in the South Tripura district, said that the Biswamohan
Debbarma faction of the NLFT and ATTF run 26 hideouts in Bangladesh.
The Chief Minister accused both the outfits of trying to create
tension in the State at the behest of Pakistan's Inter-Services
Intelligence.

December 18: Chief Minister, Manik Sarkar, informs
the State Legislative Assembly that 169 persons were killed, 182
injured and 189 abducted by militant outfits, primarily the ATTF
and NLFT, between January 1, 2004, and November 30, 2006. 184 incidents
of militant attacks are registered in 2004, mentions the Chief Minister.
The figure is 115 in 2005 and 94 in 2006 (till November 30). He
informs that 71 security force personnel are killed in militancy-related
violence over the past two years. 101 militants are killed during
the same period, discloses Sarkar.

December 5: An ATTF militant, Tirtha Debbarma,
is arrested by security force personnel during a search operation
at Haricharan Para under Jirania police station in the West Tripura
district.

November 30: The Deputy Inspector General (Tripura
Frontier) of the BSF, P. J. Sebastian, said that the Biswamohan
Debbarma faction of the NLFT and the ATTF has 57 hideouts in Bangladesh,
and some of them are located in that country's capital Dhaka. Sebastian
informed: "Altogether 172 insurgent camps belonging to NE underground
groups are existing in Bangladesh and most of the camps are operating
in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), Sylhet and Dhaka."

November 6: An ATTF cadre, Surajit Debbbarma, surrenders
before the Sub-Divisional Police Officer at Sabroom in the South
Tripura district along with one revolver.

November 1: Intelligence sources reports about increasing
infiltration by militants in Tripura following the changed political
situation in neighbouring Bangladesh. Reports indicate that more
than 50 NLFT cadres of the Biswamohan Debbarma faction and at least
30 ATTF cadres crossed over to the State from Bangladesh through
porous border in the past 90 days. More than 15 NLFT and 7 ATTF
militants enter the State through the Noliabari-Jamia colony area
of Khowai sub-division in the West Tripura district in July. “The
number has increased considerably in August month,” says the source
adding that about 20-25 NLFT and 12-13 ATTF militants infiltrate
into the State through Ranthan Chaudhury Para area under Chamanu
sub-division in the Dhalai district.

October 1: ATTF militants kill a tribal woman, the
wife of a former cadre of the outfit, identified as Swapan Debbarma,
at Ampura under Khowai sub-division. The militants were reportedly
targeting Swapan for allegedly acting as a police informer. "Militants
targeted him on suspicion that he was helping the police", said
a police official. Since the militants could not trace him at his
residence, they killed his wife.

September 28: Tripura Chief Minister, Manik Sarkar,
said at a press briefing, "Total number of NLFT and ATTF hideouts
in Bangladesh has reduced from 56 to 26 recently," adding, "but
there is no room for complacency. Insurgents have been trying to
launch fresh offensive to disrupt the peace in the state and we
have to remain vigilant as ever."

September 24: Three cadres belonging to the ATTF
and NLFT surrender before the Tripura Police at Kanchanpur. They
were identified as Dhanu Debbarma alias Danger, Ajit Debbarma and
Manik Reang.

September 13: An ‘area commander’ of the ATTF,
Bicching Debbarma, is killed in an encounter with security force
(SF) personnel at Shhaklabari near Tulashikhar in the West Tripura
district. “Bicching is a dreaded ATTF militant and we had prior
information that he was holed up. Accordingly we along with the
TSR raided the place”, says an Assam Rifles officer, adding, “At
the spot we found thick blood stains but no body was recovered.
Later, we intercepted ATTF messages aired through their own wireless
sets. The messages confirmed Bicching was dead.”

September 11: An ATTF cadre, Kanchurai Oram, is
killed in an encounter with SF personnel at Ishwarama village under
Takarjala police station in the West Tripura district. One AK-47
assault rifle along with a huge cache of explosives is recovered
from the incident site.

September 12: An unidentified ATTF cadre is killed
by Assam Rifles personnel, who retaliated the militant ambush at
Tulasikhar area under Khowai subdivision in the West Tripura district.
However, other militants manage to escape from the encounter site.

September 9: Two ATTF cadres, Jilik Debbarma and
Nirodh Debbarma, surrender before the Tripura State Rifles at Bachaibari
under Champahawer police station. The surrendered militants deserted
their camps in Bangladesh.

August 24: The ATTF, in the August issue of Choba,

Assembly that at least 458 militants belonging to the ATTF and NLFT
have surrendered in the last two years with the respective surrender

ATTF cadres led by its 'area commander' Smith Debbarma at a place

Dhanichand confesses during interrogation that Smith Debbarma's
daughter is currently undergoing militant training at a hideout

under the ‘operation’ started on June 17.
