Shariatpur District

A court in Shariatpur District sentenced two cadres of JMB to death for their involvement in the simultaneous bomb blasts in the District in 2005. The convicts were identified as Kamruzzaman alias Swapan (27) and Malek Bepari alias Malek Zehadi (28).

June 20 Dhaka city

A Dhaka court sentenced 10 militants of JMB to death over a suicide bomb attack in Gazipur Bar Association office of Gazipur District on November 29, 2005 that killed eight people including four lawyers and injured eighty others. The convicts are Anayet Ullah, Arifur Rahman, Moshidul Islam, Saidur Munshi, Abdullah Al Sohaien, Nizamuddin Reza, Taibur Rahman, Ashraful Islam, Md Shafiullah and Adnan Sami.

August 21 Bagerhat District

The CID pressed charges against six people, including HuJI-B leader Mufti Abdul Hannan, in the case related to bomb attack on Sheikh Helal's election rally in Mollahat sub-District of Bagerhat District in 2001. Five other charge sheeted accused are former president of BNP Mollahat sub-District unit Badsha Mia Shikdar, JMB cadres Zillur Rahman, Abu Taleb, Arifuzzaman and Hafez Mohammad.

August 23 Bogra District

RAB claimed that banned militant outfit JMB is operating in the country under a new acronym, BEM. This was disclosed after RAB arrested the three operatives of the military wing of BEM from a house at Thanthania in the Bogra town of Bogra District on August 22. During interrogation, the arrested confessed that militant outfit JMB is now operating under new platform BEM. However, they did not elaborate on the abbreviation of BEM. The arrested were identified as Firoz Alam (36), Barha Sheikh (21) and Nahid (22). RAB also recovered an SMG, an LMG, foreign pistols, 80 bullets, magazines and documents of the outfit from them.
