Four suspected militants of HuJI-B were arrested
along with 14 petrol bombs and four crude bombs Police during
a raid in Nandoain area of Gazipur District. They are identified
as Shahidullah (43), and Aminul Haq (49), of Tangail, Khairul
Islam (26), of Gazipur, and Golam Kibria Khan (25), of Mymensingh.
Harun-or-Rashid, SP in Gazipur, said the cadres of the banned
militant outfit were arrested during a raid at an abandoned cottage
inside a forest in Joydevpur around 8:00pm on October 27. The
arrestees had gathered there to plan subversive activities.

Police arrested four militants of JMB in Kachua
upazila of Bagerhat District. The arrestees are Akash Mollah alias
Babu (19), Habibullah Sheikh (19), Kabirullah Faraji (26) and
Mizanur Rahman Hawaldar (28). Police recovered a revolver, two
bullets, seven empty bullet casings, five crude bombs, five cell
phones and a computer from there.

A 'regional commander' of the militant outfit
JMB was killed in an encounter with law enforcers in Kushtia Sadar
upazila in Kushtia District. Deceased Tulu Mollah (33), of Khajanagar
village in the upazila, was a 'regional leader' of JMB,
Sabbirul Islam, officer-in-charge of local Detective Police said.
Police recovered a foreign made pistol, two rounds of bullets,
three machetes and some cartridges from the spot, he said. Police
claimed four detectives -- SI Abdul Halim, ASI Abdur Rashid, constable
Alim and Saiful -- were also injured in the incident.

The Kushtia court sent three suspected militants
of the JMB to jail after their three-day remand had ended on October
31. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Mustafizur Rahman passed
the order after Police produced the four before his court in the
afternoon. Kushtia DB of Police interrogated the four JMB militants--Azizul,
Saiful, Saijuddin and Joynal--for three days in connection with
a case filed for killing homeopath Sanaur Rahman. The arrestees
admitted their involvement in Sanaur's killing, said Sabbirul
Islam, OIC of Kushtia DB.

The CTTC unit of Police arrested four people in
the Darussalam area in Dhaka, on charge of supplying arms and
IEDs to Gulshan café attack 'plotter' and slain Bangladesh-origin-Canadian,
Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury and his 'missing' associate, Nurul Islam
Marjan. A CTTC team led by senior Assistant Commissioner Ahmedul
Islam arrested the four persons---Abu Taher (37), Mizanur Rahman
(34), Selim Miah (45), and Towfikul Islam alias Doctor
Towfik - hailing from the bordering town of Chapainawabganj- near
Apparel Exports Limited at Darussalam area on November 2. They
all disembarked an intercity bus, Dhaka Metropolitan Police said.
The Police investigators branded the four as the leaders and operatives
of outlawed JMB and claimed that they had seized a 9mm-pistol
from Abu Taher and 787 pieces of detonators from Mizanur Rahman.

Police arrested four militants of JMB in Bagerhat
Sadar upazila in Bagerhat District. The arrestees were
identified as Md Murshed Alam (20), Saiful Islam (36), and Maksudur
Rahman alias Tota (20), from Satkhira, and Zahirul Islam
(20), from Pirujpur, according to Police. Acting on a tip-off,
Police conducted a raid at Christian Palli area and arrested them
while the militants were holding a meeting there, said Pankaj
Chandra Roy, SP in Bagerhat. Police recovered a pistol, two bomb-like
substances, bomb-making materials and two sharp weapons.

Police arrested four suspected militants of JMB,
identified as Belal Hossain (46), Ershad Alam (28), Ashraful Islam
(23) and Al Amin (20) from Shahbajpur area of Rangpur District.
OC of Kotwali Police Station ABM Jahidul Islam said, "Acting on
a tip-off, police cordoned off a brick field in the area and conducted
a drive to detain the JMB members early Sunday." "Sensing our
presence, the militants hurled a few hand bombs targeting the
police. Four police, including SI Masud Karim, were injured in
the incident." In retaliation, Police opened fire at the militants.
Later, four of the militants were detained from the spot while
the others managed to flee the scene.

Police pressed charges against eight alleged militants
of banned militant outfit JMB in the case filed for killing Rajshahi
University teacher Professor AFM Rezaul Karim Siddiquee. Unidentified
assailants hacked to death Siddiquee on April 23, 2016, when he
was waiting for the university bus in Rajshahi city's Shalbagan
area. The charge sheet was placed before Rajshahi Chief Metropolitan
Magistrate court on November 6. The court fixed November 8 for
hearing on taking the charges into cognizance.

A Rangpur court framed charges against seven cadres
of the JMB over the October 3, 2015 murder of the Japanese farmer
Hoshi Kunio. Judge Naresh Chandra Sarker of the Rangpur Special
Judge's Court also fixed January 4, 2017, for recording testimony
of witnesses in the case after holding a hearing in presence of
five of the seven men indicted. Special Public Prosecutor Rathish
Chandra Bhoumik said that a total of eight militants of New JMB
were involved in the killing of Kunio. They were named as: 'regional
commander' Masud Rana, 'military commander' Eshak Ali; Liton Mia;
Abu Sayeed; Nazrul Islam alias Bike Hassan; Saddam Hossain alias
Rahul alias Sabuj alias Chhobi; Begum Rokeya University
student Ahsan Ullah Ansari Biplob; and Shakhawat alias
Shafique. Among the eight accused, Bike Hassan was killed in a
'gunfight' with the Police on August 2, while Saddam, the alleged
mastermind of the killing mission, and Ansari were absconding,
said Rathish.

RAB arrested five leaders of a JMB faction, called
"Sarwar-Tamim group". The five, arrested in Uttara and Adabor
areas of Dhaka city separate incidents, include a trainer, an
explosives expert and a finance coordinator, according to Mufti
Mahmud Khan, Director of RAB's legal and media wing. Of the arrestees,
Maulana Abdul Hakim Faridi alias Sufian, 40, and Razibul
Islam alias Razib, 29, were captured in Uttara. While,
Gazi Kamrus Salam Sohan alias Abdullah, 27, Sohel Rana
alias Khadem alias Muazzin, 23, and Abu Saleh alias
Liton alias Huraira, 42, were held in the city's Adabor.
Sohan, a former student of Mirzapur Cadet College, completed B.Sc.
in electrical and electronics engineering at Islamic University
of Technology in Gazipur. Razibul is a former student of economics
department at Dhaka College. All, except for Sohel, were leaders
of ABT before joining "Sarwar-Tamim group", according to RAB.
RAB recovered a pistol, 20 bullets, 10 crude bombs and bomb-making
materials from their possession.
