Police arrested a regional leader of the outlawed outfit PBCP Red Flag faction from Nandanpur village of Pabna District. The arrestee was identified as Asadul Islam allias Asad (35).

Police arrested a 'regional leader' of the Red Flag faction of the PBCP from Mojahid club area in the Pabna town of Pabna District. The arrestee is identified as Munnaf Hossain (38) of Lokkhipur village in Ataikula sub-District of the District. Police also recovered a light gun and one bullet from him.

January 27 Kushtia District

A leader of PBCP-Janajuddha was killed in a shootout between his cohorts and Police at Mirpur sub-District of Kushtia District. The deceased Enamul Haq alias Ena Mondol (35) was a member of the outfit's killing squad and was accused in nine cases. Police also recovered a rifle, a light gun, four bombs and eight bullets from the spot.

Pabna District

Police arrested two outlaws including a 'regional leader' of PBCP Janajuddha faction. The arrestees are Md Shahin Hossain (40), and Md Aslam Hossain (35) of Kashiabari village in Santhia sub-District of Pabna District. Of them, Shahin is a regional leader. Police also seized a firearm and eight bullets from their possession.

February 12 Pabna District

RAB arrested three cadres of PBCP-Red Flag in Ataikula sub-District of the Pabna District. The arrestees are identified as Muhamed Anwarul Islam (40), Jahangir Alam (38) and Muhamed Yakub Ali (32). RAB recovered two one barrel guns, one light gun (LG), four bullets and two knives from their possession.

A former member of outlawed PBCP was killed at Tamaltola town of Jessore District. The deceased was identified as Abbus Sheikh (45).

Chuadanga District

In Chuadanga District, a member of Janajuddha faction of outlawed PBCP was killed in a gunfight with Police in Damurhuda sub-District. The deceased identified as Abdul Halim (39) was involved in various crimes, including extortion and robbery since 1996. Police recovered a revolver and two bullets from the spot.

In Pabna District, an angry mob beat an outlaw dead in Hadal Doripara village in Faridpur sub-District. The deceased identified as Muhamed Sadek Ali (35) was an operative of outlawed PBCP Red Flag faction.

A cadre of PBCP Red Flag faction was murdered by rivals at Mongolgram Beel (water body) in Faridpur sub-District of Pabna District. The deceased was identified as Lashkor Pramanik allias Jafar (35).

A local BNP leader and his daughter were killed allegedly by a group of cadres of the outlawed PBCP Janajuddha faction in Mujibnagar sub-District of Meherpur District. The deceased were identified as Dr. Helal Uddin (40), Joint Secretary of Mujibnagar unit of BNP, and his daughter Mitu, a second year student of Mujibnagar Degree College.

RAB arrested six cadres of PBSP, a left wing extremist group, along with three pipe guns and two homemade rifles from Shirail area of Madaripur District. The arrestees were identified as Saidu (19), Shafiqul (22), Ibrahim Bepari (21), Sohag Bepari (17), Shahin (17), and Monir Khalifa.

June 24 Pabna District

A cadre of the Red Flag faction of PBCP was killed at village Boikola of Pabna District. The deceased was identified as Muhamad Anisur Rahman Anis (28). Police suspected that Anis was killed in a rivalry among other extremist factions. He was wanted by the Police in several cases including murders.

July 9 Chuadanga District

Police arrested a cadre of PBCP- Janajuddha along with a pistol and two bullets at Fulbagdi village of Chuadanga District. The arrestee was identified as Abul Kalam Azad (38). On his suspicious movement in the area, locals caught Kalam and recovered the arms and bullets from his possession. Later, he was handed over to Police.

July 14 Pabna District

A Pabna District court sentenced 10 cadres of PBCP-Red Flag faction to life imprisonment in a murder case. The lifers are Mojahar Ali, Nazir Sheikh, Abdus Samad-1, Abdus Samad-2, Muhamad Mokbul Hossain, Ibrahim Ali Mridha, Abu Taher, Masud Khan, Eskan Pramanik and Bolai Mishtri. According to the case statement, they hacked Muhamad Tayeb Ali, an agriculture officer of Pabna Sadar sub-District, to death while he was coming to his office on March 9, 1996.

July 16 Jhenidah District

Two leaders of PBCP were killed by their rival party men at Laxmipur-Belemath village of Jhenidah District. The deceased were identified as Ujjal Mondol (28) and Ashadul Islam (35). Locals found the bodies lying in a cropland and informed the Police. Police said Ashadul was the regional chief of PBCP and Ujjal was the deputy chief.

A cadre of the PBCP-J identified as Liton Hossain was killed at Suti-Durgapur village in the Sadar sub-District of Jhenidah District. Liton was killed by rival party men.

A cadre of the Janajudha faction of PBCP was killed by his rivals in the Gangni sub-District of Meherpur District. The deceased was identified as Nizam Uddin (50). Nizam was accused in several cases, including two for murder.

Chuadanga District

A cadre of PBCP was killed at Kutubpur Daspara village in Chuadanga District. The deceased was identified as Rasel Ali (28). Police said that Rasel was wanted in two cases including a murder case and might have killed by his fellows due to intraparty conflict.

Police arrested Muhamad Dulal Hossain (30), a regional leader of PBCP at Mirpur village of Pabna District. Police arrested Dulal while he along with his associates was holding a clandestine meeting at the village. However, his associates managed to flee.

In Meherpur District, a joint team of Police raided the house of Hisab Ali (35), a top cadre of PBCP Janajuddha faction. Police arrested him and recovered one pistol and two bullets from his possession.

October 6 Pabna District

A cadre of PBCP-Red Flag faction was stabbed to death in Santhia sub-District of Pabna District. The deceased is identified as Muhamad Akul Pramanik (40). Police said he was accused in a number of cases including one for murder.

November 2 Jhenidah District

Police recovered the body of a cadre of PBCP-Janajuddha faction from Charatala area in Harinakundu sub-District of Jhenidah District. The deceased was identified as Ziaur Rahman. Police said that local people found body of Zia lying in a field. Police suspected that rivals might have picked up Zia from another place and killed him in the field. He was wanted in a number of cases.

Unidentified criminals killed a BNP leader Kumarkhali sub-District of Kushtia District. The deceased, Munshi Rashidur Rahman, was joint secretary of the sub-District unit BNP. According to Police, Rashidur had been facing death threat from outlawed party cadres and used to stay in Dhaka city for the last four years. The area is infested with the factions of PBCP-Janajuddha and GMF.

Chuadanga District

Two members of an outlawed party have been killed allegedly by their rivals at Laxmipur village in Chuadanga District. Police recovered the bodies from Dalka water body at the village. Police identified one of them as Minarul Islam Malitha (45) while the identity of the other man could not be known immediately. Police said Minarul was a cadre of outlawed PBCP and suspected that the unidentified man was Minarul's accomplice.

December 21 Jhenidah District

An alleged outlaw was found murdered at maize filed at Pantapara village in Jhenidah District. The deceased Sirajul Islam (35) is a member of outlawed PBCP. He was accused in several cases including murder and abduction.
