Terrorists claim responsibility for terrorist attacks

ATTACKS IN INDIA

1. Three JeM terrorists were killed in Lucknow on April 2001. They were on their way to Ayodhya to destroy the Ram Mandir, as a mark of retaliation against the demolition of the Babri mosque. Names of these Pakistani terrorists were:-

2. According to a press release issued by JeM (Karachi, Oct 1, 2001), the group accepted the responsibility for the suicide attack on the State Assembly building in Srinagar on Oct 1, 2001. It claimed that the JeM terrorist Saifullah ‘sacrificed’ his life in this attack. Meanwhile, the JeM Amir Masood Azhar told Jang on telephone that it was an issue of liberation of Kashmir and his outfit would retaliate against ‘Indian terrorism’ with terrorism. Denying that the incident was related to the recent developments in Afghanistan, he said that JeM’s terrorist operations would continue till the Indian forces continue to make life difficult for Kashmiris. The people of Kashmir responded to ‘Indian terrorism’ with terrorism and this action was a part of this process. If India gave up terrorism, they would also follow the suit, otherwise the process would continue till the liberation of Kashmir. [JANG, DT. 2.10.01]

3. Seven JeM terrorists from Pakistan were killed in J & K during the period between from Sept 4, 2001 to Sept 16, 2001. During this period JeM terrorists mounted 15 raids , 4 of them suicidal ones, on the Indian forces in J&K. JeM claims to have killed 124 Indian security forces personnel in these attacks. 7suicide terrorists, 3 of them belonging to the suicide group called Zarar Bin Azor, have been found active in J & K . Following are the names of JeM Terrorists /suicide terrorists.

I. Imran @ Muaz Abdullah r/o Attock was killed at Sakhiwala Surankot on Sept 4. 2001.

II. Abdur Rehman @ Hafzur Rehman r/o Attock was killed at Sakhiwala Surankot on Sept 4. 2001.

III. Mohd Siddiq @ Abu Bakr r/o Sahiwal was killed at Sakhiwala Surankot on Sept 4 2001.

IV. Nadeem Iqbal @ Guerilla r/o Muzaffarabad was killed at Sakhiwala Surankot on Sept 4. 2001.

V. Hamza r/o Karachi was killed at Taral on Sept 16. 2001.

VI. Abdur Rehman r/o Bahawalpur was killed at Taral on Sept 16. 2001.

VII. Abu Jandal r/o Multan was killed at Taral on Sept 16. 2001.

JeM suicide terrorists Active in Jammu & Kashmir

I. Abu Hazifa is active in Rajwar and he was involved in a suicide terrorist attack on Nagri camp of the Indian Army.

II. Mohd. Saqib, JeM area Commander is active in Hindawar area. He was involved in 4 suicide missions including an attack on Gorbak camp on Sept 5, 2001.

III. Salahuddin Ayubi is also active in Hindwara and was involved in the attack of Gorbak camp on Sept 5, 2001.

IV. Abdur Rehman is active in Bandipura and was involved in an attack on BSF camp at Buttock on Sept 7, 2001.

V. Bhai Ali was active in Bandipura and was involved in the attack on BSF camp at Buttock on Sept 7, 2001.

VI. Rahil Bilal, member of suicide terrorist group Zarar Bin Azor is active in Surankot.

VII. Hataf Zarar Bhai member of suicide terrorist group Zarar Bin Azor is active in Surankot.

4. Two JeM suicide terrorists ( Saaqib group) Qari Attiqur Rehman, Saifullah, Ali Jaan and one HM terrorist Hamza Gilani ( all alive) were involved in an attack on RR-18 Regiment at Hindwara , Distt Kupwara on October 16, 2001. JeM claimed that 13 Indian army personnel were killed in this Fidayee attack. Commander Shah Zeb, JeM Distt Commander Kupwara, Commander Qari Iqbal and Mohd Umar, Area Commander Bandipur congratulated them for their successful attack on RR-18 camp. 5. Chand Mehmood and Tahir Shah JeM suicide terrorists (alive and active) attacked 24-RR,37-RR,RMT, STF joint Brigade at Chowkgul area, Tehsil Handwara, Distt Kupwara on November 10, 2001.

6. JeM terrorists attacked CRPF camps at Bakshi Stadium with grenades on October 15, 2001 killing two security personnel .

7. Two suicide terrorists including Mehtab Nafiz attacked STF camp Chadura on October 26, 2001 and claimed to have killed 10 security personnel. Commander Mehtab Nafiz, resident of Sadiqabad, was also killed. Mehtab Nafiz had been appointed organiser of JeM Multan distt office.

8. JeM terrorists ambushed Indian troops at Rasto, Viroh (J&K) killing one Major, five troops and three task force personnel on October 29, 2001.

9. JeM claims to have killed 109 Indian troops in J&K in the month of October 2001. On its side 33 terrorists were killed. Following are the detail of encounters and suicide terrorists raids.

LET ACTIVITIES IN J&K DURING the PAST 9 YEARS

Though the foundation of MDI/LeT was laid in Aug 87 when the present LeT J&K Amir Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi went to Afghanistan for participating in the Afghan Jehad and came in touch with various Jehadi leaders, it was formally formed with the foundation laying cereomony of Maskar-e-Aqsa at Tango in Kunar province by Pak Hadithi Ulem including Professor Hafiz Mohd. Saeed on Feb 22, 1990. During the same year Maskar-e-Aqsa was established near the Maskar-e-Aqsa and Baitul Mujahideen in Muzaffarabad for imparting training to Kashmiri terrorists. In early 1991 Badr Post and Maskar Umm Al-Qura were also formed. During this period the first batch of MDI/ LeT terrorists graduated in terrorist training from these Maskars and crossed over to the Valley in Aug 92 under the command of first ever LeT Kashmir Amir Abu Hafas. The first ever encounter between LeT and Indian security forces took place on Aug 26, 92 at Rishighund. Formation of LeT as a terrorist wing of MDI was announced in 93. During ‘93/’94 one more training center called as Maskar Abdulleh Bin Masood was established in Muzaffarabad. In 1995 LeT launched its operations in Jammu region from Aug 92’ to Dec 2000. LeT claims that 14369 Indian security personnel were killed by its terrorists. During these nine years,1016 LeT terrorists from Pakistan, PoK and Afghanistan were killed in J&K.

It may be noted that only 401 (including 3 from Kashmir) LeT terrorists were killed till Nov 98. The gravity of the sudden upsurge in LeT’s activities is evident from the fact that the remainder of 615 were killed in past two years alone. 301 (1 from Kashmir) from Dec 98 to Nov 99 and 314 from Dec 99 to Dec 2000. The year 2000 also witnessed launching of suicide operations with a suicide attack on a BSF camp at Bandipura on July 12.

According to LeT sources, LeT terrorists killed 2599 persons in 370 encounters including 891 in 48 suicide missions, 454 in 46 raids on camps, 226 in 33 ambushes on army and 46 in 12 remote control actions.

MDI said that, the LeT terrorists, had frightened the whole of Delhi and were writing stories of gallantry and sacrifices for wiping out the existence of ‘dirty Hindus’ bowing before the idols (WOH JO BUTON KE HAZOOR SAJDAREZ MALEECH HINDU KE WAJOOD-E-BATIL KO MITANE KELIYE SHUJAAT-O-SARFAROSHI KI DASTANEN RAQAM KAR RAHEN HAIN). He said that the LeT terrorists would liberate the Indian Muslims, "who were being subjected to repressions and brutalities", by eliminating S/Sh. Vajpayee, Advani, and Bal Thackrey" (TAKE YEH FIDAYEE ADVANI-O-VAJPAYEE AUR BAL THAKEREY KI KHAL UTAAR KE ZULM-O-JABAR MEIN TARAPATE MUSLAMANON KI EID KARASAKEN).[AL-DAAWA, DT. FEB 2001]

LeT sources revealed that 3 terrorists of a suicide mission, Abu Aasim, Uab Sharjeel, Abu Uqab had attacked the Rashtriya Rifles camp, Badampur Village, Tehsil Ganderbal on Mar 5, 2001 at 4.15 AM. They also claimed that they succeeded in killing 12 Indian troops. These terrorists could enter the army camp as they were in the uniform of Indian Army officers. They attacked the camp with Machine guns, rocket launchers and RPGs. After attacking the RR camp they returned to their hideout safely. [NAWA-I-WAQT DT. 6.3.2000]

38 LeT terrorists hailing from different parts of Pakistan were killed in 82 encounters with Indian security forces as well as ambushes and suicide attacks on them and various installations in J&K from Nov 19, 2000 to Jan 21, 2001. Of these incidents 21 were suicide attacks , in which 14 LeT terrorists were killed.

LeT’s main suicide operations

BSF Hqrs, Bandipura (July12-15, 1999) : Hafiz Mohd. Akmal @ Abu Suleman s/o Lal Mohd. r/o Multan, intruded into the building and killed four persons including DIG(G) S.K Choudhary , Mrs. Choudhary, Captain Mohan Raj and Sec. Guard. Later, he held hostage 12 persons. On 15th of July, he killed three Commandos and beheaded them. He was killed when the building was blasted off.

Brigade Hqrs, Safapur (Aug.14-15, 99) : LeT claims that its terrorist Abu Mohd. killed 65 Indian troops including 1 Maj, 2 Captains and 1 Havaldar. He himself escaped.

34 RR Hqrs, Biroh, Badgam (Aug.13, 99) : 2 terrorists Abu Abdullah Hamad @ Qari Wahiduz Zaman r/o Okara and Abu Zarar Azor @ Abdur Rashid s/o Mohd. Hanif,r/o Sheikhpura attacked the building at 0330 hrs. Both terrorists were killed in the fighting which continued till 0700hrs. LeT claimed to have killed 18 Indian troops including a JCO.

RR city camp, Surankot (Jan 01, 2000) : 2 terrorists Abul Qasim @ Mohd. Rashid s/o Habibullh, r/o Bahawalnagar and Abu Saraqa @ Mohd. Amjad s/o Zafar Hussain r/o Vehari attacked RR camp at 0500 hrs. Both of them were killed after killing 65 Indian troops.

RR Sector Hqrs, Khanabal (Jan 12, 2000) : 3 terrorists Abu Aqabullah @ Mohd. Haroon s/o Mohd Ayub r/o Gujranwala, Abu Bakar@ Mohd. Shifaqat Abdul Ghafoor r/o Jalo park, Lahore and Abu Hafas @ Umar Rafiq s/o Mohd. Rafiq r/o Sialkot and Abu Umar @ Mohd. Hashim r/o Sheikhupra attacked Hqrs building with heavy arms and disposable rockets at 2030hrs. All of them were killed. According to the report 25 Indian security personnel including Maj. Mehta and three engineers were also killed. Abu Umar @ Mohd. Hashim succeeded in returning alive to Pakistan.

RR Badampura camp (March 6, 2000) : 2 terrorists Abu Asim Kashmiri and Abu Aqab Ghauri r/o Narowal attacked this camp at 0345hrs, and claimed to have killing 23 Indian security personnel. Both terrorists escaped.

Qila camp, Thana Mandi (March 13, 2000) : 2 terrorists Abu Harira @ Mohd. Riaz s/o Mukhtar Ahmed s/o Qasur and Abu Akasha Abdul Ghafoor attacked the camp. 26 Indian soldiers including a CO and the terrorist Abu Harira @ Mohd. Riaz were killed. Abu Akasha escaped.

BSF camp, Chanpora (March 21, 2000) : LeT claimed that for welcoming Clinton, "the biggest infidel", to India, its 2 terrorists Abu Mohd.@ Imran Butt r/o Gujranwala and Abu Haris @ Mohd Niaz r/o Sialkot intruded into the camp at 1855 hrs after killing three security gaurds. 40 Indian troops and both of the terrorists were killed in the 18 hrs long battle.

Army camp, Burmi Dhar ( May 31, 2000) : 2 LeT terrorists Abu Muneb @ Saifullah s/o Mohd. Hussain r/o Gujranwala and Abu Haider @ Abdullah Naved s/o Zafarullah r/o Gujranwala attacked on Indian army camp killing 30 Indian security personnel.Both terrorists were also killed.

RR Hqrs, Beru (Sep.11, 2000) : 2 terrorists Abu Sufian @ Mohd. Iqbal Butt s/o Abdul Ghafoor r/o Gujranwala and Abu Amar @ Mohd. Asif s/o Rustam Ali r/o Vehari killed 63 Indian troops in their attack. They were also killed in the fighting.

Abu Hanzla @ Zafar Iqbal,s\o Mohd. Abdullah, r\o Sahiwal, was killed in a suicide attack on Srinagar Airport on Jan 16, 2001.

Abu Khabib @ Abdus Salaam, s\o Master Nazir Ahmed , r\o Qasur, was killed in a suicide attack on Srinagar Airport on Jan 16, 2001.

Abu Abdullah Siyaf @ Mohd. Ismail, s\o Abdullah Waaris, r\o Vehari, was killed in a suicide attack on Srinagar Airport on Jan 16, 2001.

Abu Osama @ Mohd Tayyib Saqib, s/o Mohd Shohab, r/o Karachi, was killed in a suicide attack on Srinagar Airport on Jan 16, 2001.

Abu Shaheed @ Mohd. Makki, s\o Abdullaha Gunair, r\o Jatoi, Muzaffargarh, was killed in a suicide attack on Srinagar Airport on Jan 16, 2001.

Abu Abdullah @ Javed Mohd Ameen, s/o Mohd Akram , r/o Sheikhupura, was killed in a suicide attack on Srinagar Airport on Jan 16, 2001.

Abu Shahab @ Faisal Khabib, s/o Mohd Hanif, r/o Leyyia was killed in a suicide attack on Naugam camp on Jan 19, 2001.

Abu Shahab Ghauri @ Tariq Mehmood, s/o Abdulmalik, r/o Leyyia was killed in a suicide attack on Naugam camp on Jan 19, 2001.

In an article Qazi Kashif Niaz reffered to LeT’s suicide attacks on 15 Corps Head quarter of Indian Army at Badami Bagh, Srinagar (Nov 3, 1999) and Red fort (December 22, 2000) and claimed that Indian PM Sh. Vajpayee "terrified by the suicide attacks fled to Kerala". Even Bal Thackrey who had threatened to launch Bomb Blasts in Pakistan following the Red fort attack had gone underground. He however, claimed that LeT terrorists would shortly bury Thackrey "who was the murderer of thousands of Muslims". Alleging that Sh. Vajpayee and Thackrey have always been ridiculing Islam, he said that their crime was unpardonable. Allah Almighty had ordered the arrest, ambush and murder such polytheists whereever they were found (IN MUSHRIKON KO JAHAN BHI PAO QATAL KAR DALO INKI TAAK MEIN HAR GHAAT KE JAGAH BAITHO).

According to LeT claims three LeT suicide terrorists, Ibn-e-Siddique, Abu Tayyib r\o Mandi Yazman and Abu Mauz @ Mohd Amim r\o Bahawalpur attacked 15 Corps Headquarters at Badami Bagh, Srinagar on November 3, 1999. LeT claimed that its terrorists had killed about 40 Indian Security personnel including Major Purshottam while on its own side, Abu Mauz was killed and the remaining two escaped.

In case of Red Fort attack on Dec 22 night ( 9.37 PM IST), 2 LeT terrorists hailing from the Valley, Bashir Ahmed Wani and Syed Mohd Ali were involved in LeT’s first ever attack inside India. LeT claimed that its suicide terrorists escaped after killing 12 Indian troops. [AL-DAAWA MONTHLY FEBRUARY 2001].

In Dec 2001 issue of Al-Daawa, LeT claimed to have killed 286 Indian security personnel in 43 encounters, attacks and suicide missions during theperiod between Oct 16, 2001 to Nov 28, 2001. On its side, LeT admitted losing 27 terrorists from different parts of Pakistan. During this period LeT terrorists mounted 12 suicide terrorist attacks on Army camps and security personnel. Following are the details of the suicide missions :-
