Dima Hasao

Former DHD leaders threatened to stop the ongoing broad gauge conversion and East-West corridor projects in Dima Hasao District for an indefinite period unless a CBI inquiry was conducted into the killing of its former 'general secretary' Rajesh Naidin on January 9.

Tongikro/Dima Hasao`

A militant of DHNA, Bishwanath Sengyung was lynched by villagers of Tongikro in Dima Hasao. Four militants entered the village was celebrating Bushu Dima, and assaulted some villagers and when escaping, one of the militants, shot and injured a child identified as Bushit Hojai. The injured militants are Diboajoy Daulagupu, Kameswar Haflongbar alias Bouring Dimasa and militant identified as Mikar Langthasa, alias Moton managed to escape.

October 12 Dima Hasao

Former militant leader of now disbanded DHD-J and an elected member of Dima Hasao District Autonomous Council, Mihir Garlosa alias Jewel Garlosa who was arrested by Assam Police on October 11 was granted bail by a local court in Dima Hasao Hill District.

North Cachar Hills

Former 'publicity in-charge' of the now disbanded DHD-J, Subroto Thaosen alias Phaiprang Dimasa was elected as the chairman of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council. Thaosen's appointment comes close on the heels of former 'commander-in-chief' of the DHD-J, Niranjan Hojai becoming the chief executive member of the council last month.

Dima Hasao

Former cadres of DHD threatened to take to the path of agitation in protest against the delaying attitude of both the Central and State Governments in implementing the MoS even after elapse of several years of signing along the dotted line, disclosed Dilip Nunisa, former chairman of DHD. He said the MoS was signed on October 8, 2012. But even after repeated persuasion by former DHD leaders, not a single clause of the MoS was implemented, following which the former DHD cadres have lost confidence on the Government. The Ex-DHD cadres, well-wishers and others have organized a get together where more than three hundred cadres from different parts of the Dima Hasao took part along with former DHD leaders Jewel Gorlosa, who is also the member of NCHAC.
