Pahalgam, Anantnag

Two British nationals––including Kim Housego, South Asia correspondent of Financial Times, are abducted by the HuA to demand the release of three detained Pakistani terrorists––Maulana Masood Azhar, Sajjad Afghani and Nasarullah Langaryal. However, the abductors set them free on June 23,1994, following international pressure.

Kishtwar, Doda district

French engineer working with Dul Hasti Project in Kishtwar abducted by Al Fatah and released after three months.

July 25, 1991

Srinagar

Japanese tourist abducted by unidentified terrorists and aet free after two days in captivity.

June 26, 1991

Srinagar

Seven Israelis and a Dutch citizen were abducted by the Pasdaran-e-lnquillabi Islam group from a houseboat at Dal Lake. In the ensuing scuffle, an Israeli and two terrorists were killed, while others escaped from captivity.

March 31, 1991

Tangmarg Road, Baramulla

Two Swedish engineers working with Uri Hydel Project abducted by a group of seven terrorists affiliated to the Muslim Janbaz Force (MJF). Later, on July 6, they are set free following prolonged negotiations held between Pakistan-based MJF leaders and relatives of the Swedes in Pakistan.
