commander of Let militant outfit and his two associates in a
fierce gun battle in Handwara area of Kupwara District during
which two Army personnel were also injured.
October 5: Four militants killed
as Army foiled infiltration bid at Line of Control (LoC) in
Fateh Gali region of Keran Sector in Kupwara District.
October 4: Three militants were
killed as the Army foiled infiltration bid at LoC in Gujjardur
area of Keran Sector in Kupwara District.
September 26: At least 13 persons
were killed in twin suicide attacks in the State in the morning
of September. A total of 10 people, apart from three militants,
were killed during the attacks. The dead include four Policemen
and two civilians in Kathua District and four Army personnel,
including Lieutenant Colonel Bikramjeet Singh (39) in Samba
District.
September 25: Army foiled an
infiltration bid by militants at the LOC in the Keran Sector
of Kupwara District, killing 12 militants in the operation.
September 7: At least four persons
including two militants were killed in a cross-firing with the
CRPF personnel at Shopian town of Shopian District.
August 31: Four militants were
killed as the Army foiled an infiltration bid in the Tangdhar
sector of Kupwara District along the LoC.
August 30: Five HM militants
were killed in an encounter with SFs in Preng area of Ganderbal
District.
August 6: Violating ceasefire,
the Pakistani troops attacked an Indian post along the LoC in
the Poonch Sector of Poonch District late in the night of August
5, killing five Indian soldiers.
August 3: Army foiled an infiltration
bid along the LoC in Tangdhar Sector of Kupwara District killing
two militants while an Army personal lost his life in the operation
August 1: Five LeT militants
were killed in a gun battle with Army personnel during an operation
that has been launched on July 29 in the Hafrooda forests of
Handwara town in Kupwara District.
July 30: Army killed four militants
and foiled an infiltration bid on the LoC in the Macchil Sector
of Kupwara District.
July 24: Army killed three militants
and foiled an infiltration bid on the LoC in the Uri Sector
of Baramulla District.
July 18: At least four persons
were killed and 43 others, including a BSF trooper and 14 Police
constables, were injured at Dharam in Gool-Sangaldan area of
Ramban District in a clash between a group of 'protesters' and
the BSF.
July 9: Army foiled a major
infiltration bid and killed five militants on the LoC in the
Keran sector of Kupwara District in the night. GOC of Kupwara
based 28 Division of the Army, Major General Lalit Pandey told
that eight to nine militants were moving in the forest area
about 500 meters inside Indian territory near the LoC.
July 1: One Policeman, identified
as Mushtaq Ahmed, and three militants were killed in the encounter
at Mundoora Tral in Pulwama District. The dead bodies of the
three militants along with three AK-47 rifles and ammunition
were recovered from the encounter site. The slain militants
were identified as HM 'district commander' Shabir Ahmad Bhat
alias Shabir Hayina and Aijaz Laway alias Majid.
March 13: Terrorists stormed
a CRPF camp in Bemina area of the Srinagar city (Srinagar District),
killing five troopers and injuring 10 others. The two fidayeen
were also killed.
April 26: Militants in the evening
laid ambush and killed four Police personnel near Haigam locality
along the Sopore-Kupwara road in Baramulla District.
May 24: A total of four Army
personnel were killed in an encounter with militants in village
Buchoo located in Tral area of Pulwama District, while SF shot
dead one of the three militants, identified as Saifullah Ahangar,
during the encounter.
June 1: Three militants were
killed when they made an unsuccessful attempt of infiltrating
into the Kashmir Valley along the LoC in Nowgam sector, Kupwara
District.
June 24: Eight Army personnel
were killed and 11 others sustained injuries when two heavily
armed HM militants ambushed an Army convoy in Hyderpora area
of Srinagar (Srinagar District).
