SFs arrested two Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of HM, identified as Zahoor Ahmad Bhat and Manzur Ahmad Ganai, from Putshahi Kuloosa area of Bandipora District and recovered arms and ammunition from them. One Chinese make pistol, 10 pistol rounds and two Chinese grenades were recovered from the duo. Sources said that the two are active for past 5-7 months and had come to Bandipora.

ASI, identified as Kafeel Ahmad, was killed and three Policemen were injured in a fierce encounter between SFs and militants in Sopore town of Baramulla District. A HM spokesman while speaking to a local news service claimed responsibility for the attack on the SOG party at Sopore.

One top HM commander, identified as Javed Ahmad Mir alias Javed Salfi, was killed in an encounter with Police in Qazigund area of Anantnag District.

Police detained six relatives of HM militants from Tral area in Pulwama District following the killing of a Sarpanch, his son and a Numbardar in two spate incidents on April 21. They were detained during raids at Dadsara, Hayen, Laribal, Ruthsuna and Hundura hamlets. Among those detained are a Policeman and an engineer.

A HM militant was arrested and some ammunition recovered from him in Baramulla District of north Kashmir. An AK-47 rifle, a magazine and 20 rounds of ammunition were recovered from Bhat, a resident of village Bhatpora in Kunzar area of Baramulla.

HM has put up posters in the Tral area of Pulwama District of J&K warning people and Gram Panchayat members against participating in the election. Tral is a part of Anantnag Parliamentary constituency, which is going to polls on April 24. The posters also warned the people against joining the election rallies of the mainstream political parties.

The UJC 'chief' Syed Salahudin hailed the people of south Kashmir for observing boycott of Lok Sabha elections. According to a statement issued by Syed Sadat Hussian, HM 'spokesman' Salahuddin stated that the people of Kashmir have given a clear message to New Delhi that they reject the polls under the Indian constitution.

An Army Officer, Major Mukund Vardarajan and two HM militants were killed and an Army jawan was critically injured in a gun battle in Shopian District. The South Kashmir Police Chief, Deputy Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said that the third militant is still alive. Vijay Kumar stated that three HM militants, Shabir Gorsi, Mohammad Asif and Abdul Haq were trapped in a house in Khan Mohalla in village Kareva Zora Malu in Shopian District after Army and Police cordoned off the village.
