looting and robbery along the Trans Asian Highway the KNF warned
of action. LH Stephen, 'information and publicity secretary' of
the outfit said that the frequent occurrence of looting and robbery
along the highway is very unfortunate while condemning such incident
in the strongest term. He continued that if any militant outfit
under SoO or non-SoO group happen to regrettably involve in such
uncalled-for incident should immediate culminate their activities
and eschewed from such unlawful movement in future. The outfit
leader also warned that if any dire punishment is given to any
individual or party who do comply with the outfit appeal KNF will
not held responsible.

KNF observed the 22nd death anniversary of its
founder Nehlun Kipgen as 'Martyrs' Day' along with paying rich
tributes at Camp Ebenezer in Sadar Hills (Senapati District).
KNF chief ST Thangboi recalled that Nehlun Kipgen began his campaign
to set up Kuki armed movement at Indo-Burma border area in December
1986. The KNF chief also urged all KNF members to fight for the
rights to 'self-governance' guaranteed to all citizens of India
by its Constitution. He also affirmed that KNF would stand for
the people, Nation, and land at this juncture and continue to
struggle for self-governance so as to ensure that all the people
live in peace and harmony and prosper together.

The 48 hour bandh called by the JAC against
the killing of Khupneilal Neihsiel and 'Central Administrative
Officer' of KNF Robert Hesei Kipgen at Kadangband in Senapati
District on January28, over failure of the State Government to
table the magisterial probe report within the stipulated three
months time threw normal life in the hill Districts out of gear
on the first day of the strike. The bandh was also total
in Churachandpur District with the KSO, HSA and ZSF extending
support. Meanwhile, TYA, GHQ expressed their support to the JAC
during its 48 hours total bandh, which began on October
18, midnight.
