A joint team of AR and Bihar Regiment launched
a joint operation in Bunghal Khullen area of Thoubal District
in Manipur and recovered arms and ammunition. During the search
operation, the team recovered one AK-56 rifle and two magazines
along with 60 live rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. Further search
along with Thoubal Commandos led to recovery of 54 live rounds
of 7.62mm, 47 live rounds of 7.62mm sniper rifle, one magazine
of 7.62mm AK-56 Rifle, one magazine of 5.56mm of M 16 rifle
and five live rounds of 5.56mm of M 16 rifle. Search of the
living room of one Lelen Kipgen, who was missing, resulted in
recovery of one seal of KNF-N, demand letter and documents pertaining
to KNF-N.

Itham village / Imphal East District
|
A combined team of BSF and Lamlai Police arrested
one cadre of the KNF-N from Itham village in Imphal East District.
BSF sources said that a joint team of 49th battalion BSF and Lamlai
Police rushed to Itham village after getting information of KNF-N
cadres extorting money from the owners of sand quarries. On seeing
the SF personnel, one of the cadres suddenly opened one round
of fire in the air and tried to flee the area. However, some villagers
overpowered a cadre and caught him while four other cadres managed
to escape. The arrested cadre was later identified as Kamminlun
of Singsit Veng Kangpokpi in Senapati District. He revealed that
he came to the village from Kangpokpi with four other cadres two
days back. They also brought two AK-47 rifles and one 9 mm pistol.
Soon after his arrest, the combined team conducted a search operation
to arrest other cadres at the area. During the course of the operation,
the SFs recovered an AK-47 rifle along with a magazine loaded
with 11 live rounds from near a river at around 8 pm.

Itham village / Imphal East District

Tension gripped Itham village in Imphal East District
after KNF-N allegedly threatened the villagers to kill them if
any of them enter the neighbouring Kuki village. The threat came
after the arrest of a KNF-N cadre by BSF on January 16. Itham
is an interior village of Imphal East District surrounded by Naga
and Kuki villages. Speaking to reporters at the village, Itham
Naharol Yaipha Thourang Lup secretary T Somorjit said that Kuki
militants have been constantly harassing the transporters and
workers engaged in quarry works in the village.

Bongbal Khullen / Senapati District
|
AR personnel and Thoubal Police Commandos during
a search in Bongbal Khullen village in Senapati District arrested
one KNF-N cadre, identified as the 'assistant finance secretary'
Satkithang Kipgen alias Ranjit (29). One 9mm Pistol (Country
made) along with a magazine and nine live rounds were also recovered
from his possession.
