Senapati

Villagers caught hold of and thrashed a 'Sergeant Major' of KRA who allegedly came to extort money from Longa Koireng village in Senapati District. Meanwhile, KRA claimed that the apprehended cadre identified as Jamkholet Haokip alias David (28) was a deserter. According to information culled from the spot, David and one accomplice tried to abduct Longa Koireng village chief S Sothel Selsochung. After some thrashing, David was handed over to Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) [apex body of Kuki tribes] leaders who then turned over David to 8- Assam Rifles.

SFs launched a search operation following information about the presence of valley based cadres and Kuki militants from Old Laljang village in Senapati District resulting the arrest of four militants. A source said that of the four arrested UG cadres, two of them are KNO/KNA militants while the remaining two are from URF-Lanheiba. Full details are awaited as the operation continued till the time of filing the report.

The identities of the five militants who were arrested by SFs on January 13 have been established. SFs during a search operation at Kalijang village near Taphou Kuki village in Senapati District arrested the militants. Of the five arrested persons, one cadre is from the URF-Lanheiba while the remaining four are KRA/ KNO cadres.

'Publicity secretary' of KRA, T Simte refuted the report that four URF [URF-Lanheiba] cadres were arrested in the joint operation on January 13. He clarified that three of the arrested men are cadres of KRA while the fourth one is an innocent driver. There is no camp of the URF at Taphou Kuki, he further clarified.

Two KRA militants, as Oinam Shyamsunder Singh alias Naoba and Thanglunlal Chongloi alias Hopson were arrested from Kanglatongbi bazar area in Imphal West District. A 0.22 pistol along with one magazine was recovered from them.

Pongmol village / Senapati District

Troops of Jwalamukhi Battalion of Senapati Brigade under Red Shield Division arrested two KRA-U cadres in an operation carried out in Pongmol village of Senapati District. The cadres were identified as Lamkhapao Chongloi (31) and Thangkholun Chongloi (44), both resident of village Khenjang in the District. They were arrested along with a 7.65 mm pistol, four live ammunitions of 7.65 mm and INR 2,500. Lamkhapao confessed that he is the president of UG group of KRA-U under KNO umbrella and has been involved in various nefarious activities of the group, a statement issued by the PRO (Defence), Imphal, said. The arrested cadres were planning to abduct the staff of contactor responsible for the repair and maintenance of NH-2.

Army personnel arrested an active cadre of KRA in an operation carried out at IT Road in Turibari village in Senapati District. The arrested cadre was reportedly involved in many extortion and nefarious activities on the IT Road.

Three active cadres of KRA-U were arrested from Khenjang village of Senapati District. Two AK-47 rifles, live ammunition and two magazines of AK-47 rifle were recovered from their possession.

Turibari village / Senapati District

The KRA cadre, who was arrested in an operation carried out at IT Road in Turibari village in Senapati District on October 22, has been identified as 'Sergeant' Haominthang Hangsing alias Sparrow (25) of Wakotphai in the District. Haominthang had joined the underground group in 2006 and was arrested along with a sword, INR 200, one Micromax Mobile phone and one SIM card. Also, the three active cadres of KRA-U, who were arrested from Khenjang village of Senapati District on October 25, were identified as Lalminsei Singsit (18), Chonglenglun Misao (19) and Kamjalein Chongloi (19). The three cadres were arrested along with two AK-47 rifles, 10 live ammunition of AK-47, 14 live ammunition of M-16 and two magazines of AK-47 rifle.

A combined team of Senapati Police and AR arrested three cadres of KRA while conducting search operation at Kuki Taphou village in Senapati District. They were arrested by the SFs, a press release issued by Manipur Police said.

A combined team of District Police and 35 AR arrested three cadres of KRA while conducting search operation at Kuki Taphou village area of Senapati District. The three cadres have been identified as Gouginthang Vaiphei alias Jacob (24), Thanglaldin Vaiphei alias Shaolin (18) and Satneo Singson alias Haosat (21), all belonging to Churachandpur District headquarters.
