Kanglapat/ Imphal West

SFs arrested two UNLF militants, Naorem Robindro Singh alias Ireicha alias Inao and Hijam Sunil Singh from near Adarsh Laboratory, in Kanglapat area in Imphal West. During spot verification, it was learnt that the duo brought the third person, namely, Ashem Sanathoi Singh alias Thoiba for recruiting. UNLF.Investigation revealed that the first arrestee, Naorem Robindro Singh alias Ireicha alias Inao was entrusted for extortion of money from general public and recruitment of new cadres. Investigation also revealed that the second arrestee Hijam Sunil Singh was involved in recruitment of new cadres for UNLF militants. The rescued person, Ashem Sanathoi Singh alias Thoiba was handed over to his father, Asem Suresh Singh.

A combined team of Thoubal District Police Commandos and Indian Army conducted frisking and checking at Pallel bazar area in Thoubal District on the National Highway. During the frisking and checking, two militants of UNLF identified as 'corporal' Laishram Ratan Meitei alias Lanjadaba alias Puchoubi and Amom Nanao Meitei alias Itheiba alias Bonee were arrested.

In view of the strike called by UNLF, KYKL , RPF markets, shops and business establishments were closed in most parts of the State. Transport services between Manipur and the neighboring states were also cancelled in view of the strike.

Imphal West

Keithellakpam Nabachandra alias Chilheiba of UNLF who was arrested from his residence located at the outskirts of Dhaka Bangladesh on February 11, was brought to Imphal. Bangladeshi authority reportedly handed Nabachandra to its Indian counterparts in the first week of March at Dawki town in Jaintia Hills District. A team of Imphal West Police went to Shillong in East Khasi hills of Meghalaya and brought him to Manipur.

Thoubal

An OGW of UNLF identified as Waikhom Mohen was arrested from Thoubal District. He was involved in recruitment of child soldiers for UNLF. Together with accomplice, Mohen has already recruited 12 children into UNLF.

UNLF triggered a bomb blast at the residence of Lourembam Diana in Tera Yengkhom Leikai in Imphal West. A press release issued by UNLF stated that the bomb attack was the first warning and accused that Diana had collected money in the name of UNLF.

CorCom in a press statement said that NSCN-K has taken the right decision by abrogating the cease fire agreement with GoI. It stated that "The decision taken by the NSCN-K under the leadership of S.S. Khaplang to abrogate the 14-year ceasefire with the Centre is a right step".

A UNLF militant identified as Mohammed Warish Khan alias Nawaz alias Saiba was arrested from Shikhong Khunou area in Thoubal District.

UNLF celebrated its 20th Rising Day at the outfit's designated Nazareth camp, Muvanphoi in Chandel District

Special NIA court issued arrest warrant against a witness, identified as Kishan Lal of New Delhi in connection with the trial of UNLF leader RK Meghen. Kishan Lal who is said to be the witness when NIA seized some items from RK Meghen and his associates, never appeared before the court despite repeated summons.

Myanmar

As many as nine North East militant groups, including UNLF have formed a joint front, UNLFW in Myanmar.

UNLF 'chairman' Meghen alias Sanayaima and several other leaders of UNLF were produced before the Special Court of NIA. NIA had filed charge sheets against Meghen and several other leaders of UNLF for waging war against the Indian Union.

Wangoo Sabal/Bishnupur

A UNLF militant identified as ukhrambam Rabi Singh alias Naopik alias Kheng was arrested from Wangoo Sabal area in Bishnupur.

UNLF condoled the death of 'lieutenant' Chenglei and 'sergeant' Tamheiba, who were killed on May 23, at Bongbal Khullen in Senapati. According to a press release issued by UNLF 'director' M Sak-hen both the militants were sent from MPA 'hq' on May 15.

According to the initial plan, the UNLFW was supposed to be the common platform of all NE militant outfits, including CorCom. UNLF 'chairman' wanted to become the 'chairman' of the newly floated UNLFW Intelligence agencies intercepted messages sent by Meghen from Guwahati jail, directing his group not to join the UNLFW if the chairman's post is not given to him.

A UNLF militant identified as Yaikhom Sanaton Singh alias Ton was arrested from Sekmai new market in Imphal West District. Investigation revealed that he and his associate has extorted money from general public and private businessmen and elected members in Sekmai and Maharabi area.

Sita Road Junction/Chandel

SFs arrested a UNLF militant 'corporal' H Moiragthem Bikramjit Singh alias Wadaba, at Sita Road Junction in Chandel.

NIA investigators say that UNLF 'chief' RK Meghen has told them that their group has been in touch with China since 2008. He also said that they met a Chinese agent in Katmandu in 2008, with the code name "Alex".

A UNLF militant identified as 'lance corporal' Maibam Pukchao alias Beshorjit Meitei was arrested from Yumnam Patlou village in Imphal East.

A UNLF militant identified as 'private' Wahengbam Premjit alias Peirabi Meitei was arrested from Hiyanglam Tera Pishak in Thoubal District.

Sekmaijin/Imphal West

A UNLF militant, identified as 'private' Sanasam Inbungochouba alias Boy was arrested from Sekmaijin in Imphal West District.

About 11km into Myanmar from Manipur border UNLF s believed to have set up base in a hamlet called Heonkabin. Sources say cadres from NSCN-K recently visited this camp.

Wabagai Tera Pishak / Thoubal District

Troops of AR along with Thoubal Police Commandos, in a joint operation, arrested a UNLF cadre, identified as 'SS Major' Salam Borajao alias Ingobi Meitei from Wabagai Tera Pishak in Thoubal District. Investigations revealed that the arrested cadre was in the area to carry out destructive activities against the SFs.

Manipur

AR in coordination with Police forces of Manipur killed three militants, arrested 40 UG cadres and three OGW and recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunition in last 45 days in the state, an AR release said. During the counter insurgency operation, from August 1 to September 15 last, three cadre of PLA were killed, the AR release said. Seven cadres of UNLF, seven cadres of NSCN-K, five cadres of PREPAK-Pro, six cadres of PREPAK, four cadres of PLA, eight cadres of KYKL, one cadre of ZUF, one cadre of KCP, one cadre of Vice-Chairman faction of PREPAK (PREPAK-VC) and three 'overground' cadres of UNLF, PREPAK and KYKL each were arrested, the release added. The release further said arms and ammunition including one AK-47 rifle, two 7.62 mm A-1 Rifle, one 9 mm carbine machine gun, four 9 mm pistol, one lathod gun with three lathod shells, one country made 12 bore single barrel rifle, 8 IEDs, two Chinese hand grenades and other assorted ammunition were recovered.

Moreh Police Station / Chandel District

A combined team of 2 AR of 9 Sector AR, 11 AR of 26 Sector AR and Moreh Police Commandos launched a joint operation in the general area Moreh Premnagar and arrested one UNLF cadre, identified as Sgt P Yaima Singh alias Iraibak (37). He revealed himself to be a trained cadre receiving training at a camp in Churachandpur in 2005, the AR said in a press note through its PRO. Iraibak has been handed over to the Moreh Police Station in Chandel District.

Sagolmang bazar area / Imphal East District

Troops of the 16 AR of 10 Sector AR under the aegis of headquarters of IGAR-S along with Imphal East Police commandos launched a joint operation in Sagolmang bazar area in Imphal East District and arrested one UNLF cadre, identified as No 2338 (Batch No 36 of 2010), SS Private Md Feroz Khan alias Majnoon (19) of Pangaltabi village in Pangei under Sagolmang Police Station in Imphal East District.

Hiyanglam / Imphal West District

A cadre of UNLF identified as No 2196, Heisnam Priyokumar Meitei alias Naohemba (20) of Laphupat Tera Mayai Leikai in Imphal West District was arrested by combined team of 22 AR of 28 Sector AR under the aegis of headquarters of IGAR-S and Hiyanglam Police commandos. The arrestee revealed to have received training in 2007 in Myanmar.

Imphal East District

Based on specific intelligence input regarding movement of an UG cadre, troops of 16 AR of 10 Sector AR under the aegis of headquarters of IGAR-S along with Imphal East District Police commandos launched a joint operation at Happy valley and arrested one UNLF cadre. The cadre has been identified as No 2289, Batch No 36 of 2011, 'self styled Pvt' Md Ribiyul alias Salim (23) of Pangaltabi village in Imphal East District. He has been handed over to Sagolmang Police Station, said a press release issued by PRO, headquarters of IGAR-S.

Imphal West District

A team of District Police Commandos, conducted frisking and checking near RIMS main gate in Imphal West District, and arrested one UNLF cadre identified as Mathura Baspatimayum Sushil Kumar Sharma (24) of Kongba Kshetri Leikai.

AR arrested one UNLF cadre, identified as 'Sergeant' Aheibam Angouba alias Bulu Meitei (33), of Takyel Kolom Leikai from the general area of Takyel in Imphal West District. The arrestee was handed over to Lamphel Police Station.

One UNLF cadre, identified as 'corporal' Khundongbam Kiran Khanganba (28) of Heirok Mayai Leikai, was arrested by AR in a joint operation with Bishnupur District Police commandos from near Nambol bridge. He revealed that he joined UNLF in February, 2003 after receiving training in a camp in Churachandpur.

SFs arrested one 'Corporal' of UNLF, identified as Khundongbam Kiran Khanganba alias Morning (28) of Heirok Mayai Leikai, during a search operation held at Nambol bazar in Bishnupur District. Investigations revealed that the arrested militant was involved in launching attack on SF personnel.

Moreh Police Station / Chandel District

A trooper belonging to the 24 AR, identified as Paokholet Baite, was killed and two others injured in an ambush launched by the UNLF in Satang village under Moreh Police Station in Chandel District. MPA, the armed wing of UNLF, laid the ambushed and used sophisticated weapons in the attack. The security team recovered one radio set, one pistol and two live IEDs.

Combined team of District Police Commando Imphal West and AR conducted a search operation in Mongsangei Kongjeng Leikai area and arrested two active workers of UNLF, identified as Yumnam Chiranjit Singh alias Phajaba alias Robert (40) and Sinam Santa Singh alias Abungo (35). Investigation revealed that they had served demand letter to various businessmen, government employees, general public and phadhans.

AR along with Imphal West Police Commandos launched a joint operation in general area of Kongjeng Leikal Kounathabi in Imphal West District and arrested an OGW of UNLF, identified as Yumnam Chiranjit Singh alias Robert (40).

The UNLF claimed its hands in setting off one bomb at Sky Cold Café in Iroisemba Maning Leikai in Uripok-Kangchup Road on November 1 and another at the Mayang Imphal Keithel residence of Chandel CMO Dr Seram Ibomcha on October 31. According to two press releases issued by the outfit's 'director' M Sak-hen, the Sky Cold Cafe was attacked as a warning against all such restaurants which have become shady places for all kinds of immoral activities such as outraging modesty of vulnerable and/or gullible girls/women.

Based on a specific information, a team of District Police Commando, Thoubal conducted frisking and checking at Kakching Bazar near Sugnu Parking in Thoubal District and arrested one active cadre of the UNLF, Khumukcham Milkyson Singh alias Tamyangba (25), of kakching Khunou Hijam Uchan Makhong.

An active cadre of UNLF, identified as Khumukcham Milkyson Singh (25) was arrested by a team of Thoubal District Police commandos from Kakching bazaar in Thoubal District.

A combined team of Bishnupur Commando and AR arrested a woman militant of UNLF, identified as Salam Ichan Devi alias Abem (22) from Nganukon area in Bishnupur District.

Singjamei Chinga Mathak Yumnam Leikai / Imphal West District

A team of District Police commando, Imphal West arrested one over ground cadre of KCP-N, identified as Lourembam Robinson Singh (35) from his residence at Singjamei Chinga Mathak Yumnam Leikai. Investigation revealed that he was earlier arrested in 2010 for being a cadre of PLA and again arrested in 2014 as over ground worker of UNLF.

Manipur

The UNLF through a press release issued by its 'department of publicity director' M Sak-hen, refuted any connection whatsoever between the outfit and Salam Ichan alias Abem who was reportedly arrested on the charge of being a sympathiser of UNLF by SFs from Nganukon area on November 6.

Churachandpur District

Troops of Red Shield Division arrested a cadre of UNLF, identified as Sanasam Prem Singh alias Abung (29) from Salamkunjil Part-II in Churachandpur District.

Khagempali Huidrom Leikai area / Imphal West District

Based on reliable information, a team of District Police Commando, Imphal West conducted cordon and search operation in and around Khagempali Huidrom Leikai area and arrested one active cadre of UNLF, identified as Huidrom Ajit Singh alias Langdai (41), of Khagempali Huidrom Leikai from his residence. Investigation revealed that, he along with his associates were planning to explode IEDs in Imphal area in connection with the forthcoming raising day of UNLF organisation, it said.

Zangnomphai / Chandel District

An AR trooper was killed and two others were injured in an ambush by UNLF militants near Zangnomphai village in Chandel District of Manipur. A group of armed militants ambushed an AR patrol party near International Border Pillar No 60 of the village, Police officials said. The slain rifle man was identified as Raghunath Prasad who hailed from Madhya Pradesh. While owning up the attack, a statement of the UNLF said that the attack was conducted by members of its armed wing MPA under its code name "Operation Waaba". It claimed that one soldier of the IOF was killed in the ambush that also inflicted injuries to two other soldiers. The attack was launched on the troops of 3 AR at Yamnomphai (Laiyang Khunou) near the Indo-Myanmar border pillar no. 59 and 60 and no casualty on the MPA side, the statement added. The attack on IOF was part of its military campaign to restore the sovereignty of Manipur, the statement signed by M Sak-hen, director of department of publicity of the outfit added.

Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai / Imphal West District

Imphal West Police Commando arrested five UG cadres including four active cadres of UNLF and one women cadre of KNA-I. Imphal West Police Commando conducted counter insurgency search operation in the general area of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai and arrested one active member of UNLF, identified as Thangjam Surjit Singh alias Abung (35), of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai. On the revelation of Thangjam, another three active members of UNLF, identified as Singamayum Abe alias Bembem, Haorungbam Yohenba Meitei alias Abung (26) and Dolaipabam Miyadat Hassan (23) were also arrested. A team of District Police Commando, Imphal West along with women Police, conducted search operation in and around Sekmai Bazar and arrested one active member of KNA-I, identified as Lamkhochin Khongsai (35) in Churachandpur.

Khurai Awang Kongpal Leikai / Imphal West District

Two activists of the UNLF were arrested by a team of Imphal West District commandos during a search operation carried out in Khurai Awang Kongpal Leikai, as the outfit celebrated its 51st raising day. A Police report said on November 25, the UNLF militants have been identified as RK Khedasana (51), a resident of Khurai Lairikyengbam Leikai in Imphal East and Laishram Dhanajit (51), a resident of Khurai Kongpal.

Imphal West District

Based on reliable information, a combined team of District Police commando, Imphal West and 12 Bihar Regiment conducted cordon and search operation at Lilong Chajing Karam area and arrested one UNLF cadre, identified as Yaikhom Premkumar Singh alias Ratan alias Subash (42), of Khurai Thoudam Leikai, at present Lilong Chajing Karam. Investigation revealed that he was involved in extortion from different Government offices and some counsellors of Imphal East area for raising fund of the organisation.

Imphal

The UNLF refutes of having any connection between the outfit and Yaikhom Premkumar alias Ratan of Khurai Thoudam Leikai who was arrested by a combined force of Manipur Police and 12 Bihar Regiment during a search operation in Lilong Chajing Karam. A press release issued by UNLF's department of publicity director M Sak-hen contended that the said Premkumar alias Ratan is not a member of UNLF. Reacting to a news report issued by the Manipur PRO which claimed that Premkumar alias Ratan assisted in recording a musical album 'Chingkhei Phidup' for the party, Sak-hen maintained that no such musical album was recorded for the party.

Singjamei Police Station / Imphal West District

Militants of UNLF triggered two powerful IEDs at a motor showroom in Imphal. The bomb exploded at MGT Tata Motor showroom at Sangaiporou under Singjamei Police Station of Imphal West District, operated by one Kulwan Singh, a resident of Punjab presently residing in Imphal's MG Avenue. While owning the blasts, UNLF, in a statement, alleged that challenge and cheating by its proprietor Kulwan Singh and his son Dipu to the outfit were behind the attack. The attack was performed as a warning to them (proprietor and his son). If the duo and staffs of the showroom continued to challenge and cheat the outfit, more deadly attacks which will root out the business activities of the showroom cannot be rule out, the statement warned.
