Ministry said, "This situation has raised significant concerns for the Afghan government, with certain biased groups attempting to exploit these incidents to damage the positive relations between the two nations."
On August 9, the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad (BHBCOP) reported that 205 incidents of minority persecution occurred across 52 districts of Bangladesh since Sheikh Hasina's ouster on August 5, reports The Daily Star. Nirmal Rosario, the president of the organization, said, "We seek protection because our lives are in a disastrous state. We are staying up at night guarding our homes and temples. I have never witnessed such incidents in my life. We demand that the government restore communal harmony in the country."
On August 9, three Kuki-Zo village volunteers and one cadre of United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) were killed in an intense gun battle between Kuki villages volunteers and United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) in Molnoi Pallel and Molnom villages in Pallel area in Tengnoupal District of Manipur, reports IndiaToday NE. In retaliation, members of the Village Volunteer Force (VVF) targeted the residence of UKLF leader SS Haokip, setting his house ablaze.
On August 7, Security Forces (SFs) arrested two cadres of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) identified as, Nongmeikapam Naoton Meitei alias Shanker (45) and Moirangthem Premananda Singh alias Loyangamba (50) from Changangei Awang Leikai, near Imphal Airport in Imphal West District of Manipur, reports NorthEast Now. SFs seized two mobile phones and one wallet from them. They were accused of being involved in extortion-related activities in and around Imphal, especially at the Airport locations.
The Chief Minister (CM) of Manipur, N Biren Singh, stated that the Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement with Kuki militants remains effective, despite the state government’s decision to withdraw from the pact, reports NorthEast Now on August 9. The Manipur CM’s remarks came in response to questions raised by opposition party Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), K Ranjit Singh, in the Manipur state’s assembly. “The central government has not taken any steps to officially abrogate the pact,” the Manipur CM informed the assembly. However, Singh also pointed out that the Central Government has not extended the SoO agreement with the Kuki groups since February 29, 2024.

On August 8, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed chargesheets in a special court against five individuals, Vikesh alias Vicky Goyal, Balram Tamo, Sumit Dixit alias Chhotu, Rajesham Pogula, and Mallesh, for their alleged involvement in providing logistics and support to the banned terrorist organisation, Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), in Jagdalpur in Bastar District of Chhattisgarh, reports Devdiscourse. The five accused, residents of various parts of Chhattisgarh, face charges under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Originally, the Geedam Police in Dantewada District registered the case in June 2023 following the seizure of INR 106,335 in cash and several incriminating items from members of the CPI-Maoist. The NIA took over the case (RC-03/2023/NIA-RPR), discovering that the accused were deeply involved in the terror outfit's logistics and handling demonetised currency to further the organisation's anti-national agenda. Investigations revealed that Mallesh held the pivotal role of 'military commander in chief’ of platoon no. 16 of the Divisional Committee Member (DVCM) of CPI-Maoist.
Two Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres, including a Dalam (armed squad) member of the CPI-Maoist Charla-Sabari area committee and a Chhattisgarh-based Local Organising Squad (LOS) member of the banned outfit, surrendered before the Police in Kothagudem in Bhadradri Kothagudem District of Telangana on August 8, reports The Hindu. The Police identified the surrendered Maoists as Vetti Laxmaiah alias Kallu (22), of Kistarampadu village in Charla Mandal (administrative sub division) of Telangana and Mallam Deva (32), of Gollapalli village in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh. The duo surrendered before Bhadradri Kothagudem Superintendent of Police (SP) B. Rohit Raju and the officials of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 141 and 81 Battalions in Kothagudem, the Police said. Laxmaiah had earlier worked as bodyguard of Azad, the Divisional Committee Member (DVCM) of the CPI-Maoist ‘Bhadradri Kothagudem-Alluri Sitarama Raju (BK-ASR) division’, for some time. According to Police, the duo cited ‘disillusionment’ with the Maoist ideology as the main reason for their surrender.
On August 9, Border Security Forces (BSF) pushed back nearly 1,000 Bangladeshi nationals attempting to enter India through the international border at Sitalkuchi in Cooch Behar District of West Bengal, reports Hindustan Times. Till late in the evening, around 900-950 Bangladeshi nationals were pushed back by personnel from BSF’s North Bengal frontier in West Bengal. However, a BSF officer said, “Some 50-100 people are still there and refusing to leave. We are working with the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) to send them back home. The people there are shouting slogans to be let inside India”.
‘Government of the People’s Republic of Nagaland’/ National Socialist Council of Nagaland (GPRN/NSCM) condemned the brutal physical assault of its two cadres, identified as, ‘major’ Sangti and ‘leacy’ Ati, at gunpoint allegedly by National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah) (NSCN-IM) cadres at Pungro town in Kiphire District of Nagaland, reports Nagaland Post on August 10. In a condemnation note, GPRN/NSCM claimed that NSCN (IM) Pungro Town (Nagaland) ‘commander’ Gurung lured their cadres to the Metumnyo festival with the intention of assaulting them.

Four Terrorists and three soldiers were killed during three different intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in Tirah Valley of Khyber District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on August 9, reports ARY News. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement said that 37-year-old Havildar Inam Gul, 29-year-old Sepoy Muhammad Imran, and 22-year-old Sepoy Iltaf Khan were killed. However, The Khorasan Diary quoting the claim of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) said that five Security Forces (SFs) personnel were killed and unspecified number of others sustained injuries when terrorists attacked a security post in Tirah. Some of the SF personnel are missing. Encrypted channels linked to the Tariq Afridi Group of Hafiz Gul Bahadur faction of TTP claimed responsibility for the attack. Tariq Afridi Group pledged allegiance to the Hafiz Gul Bahadur faction in February 2024.
A pedestrian was killed and four Policemen, including a Station House Officer (SHO) when the terrorists attacked the Marian Police Station in Bannu District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on August 9, reports ARY News. The terrorists reportedly fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Two hand grenades explosions were reported at Pakistan’s Independence Day celebration event which was held at Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University on Brewery Road in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, in the morning of August 8, reports The Balochistan Post. Local residents reported hearing at least two explosions. Authorities have yet to provide details on the extent of the damage or any casualties resulting from the attack. In a statement issued to the media, Jeeyand Baloch, the ‘spokesperson’ for the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), claimed responsibility for the attack. He stated that their cadres targeted the event, described as a “so-called” Independence Day celebration organized under the patronage of the “occupying” Pakistani forces.
Two unidentified assailants lobbed a grenade on the Mach Police Station in Dera Murad Jamali town of Nasirabad District in Balochistan on August 8, reports ARY News. According to local Police, the incident occurred when the suspects, riding a motorcycle, threw a hand grenade onto the roof of the Police Station before fleeing the scene. However, no casualties were reported in the attack.
A mob of nearly 250-300 Muslims attacked and tried to kill two Christian sisters, identified as Sonia Masih and Saima Masih, on the accusation of blasphemy in Kathore village of Gojra tehsil (revenue unit) in Toba Tek Singh District of Punjab on August 8, reports Morning Star News. The mob tried to kill Saima Masih after one person Muhammad Haider accused her of hurting Islamic religious sentiments by desecrating pages of the Quran, said attorney Akmal Bhatti, chairman of the Minorities Alliance Pakistan (MAP). “The mob would have lynched Saima if the Police had not reached there on time and rescued her,” Bhatti added. “The mob also reportedly attacked some other Christian residents of the village, forcing them to flee their homes and hide in the fields to save their lives”, Bhatti added further.
