International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) officials said that 31 war crimes cases are pending with the ICT-1, 14 cases against 82 suspects are under trial while 17 cases against 92 others are at the pre-trial stage, reports New Age on December 16. 752 war crimes allegations against 3,830 suspects await probes by the War Crimes Investigation Agency, said officials. As no appeals were heard in last two years, ICT 1 co-coordinator M Sanaul Huq called for expediting hearing the appeals against convictions. ‘If the trials proceed at slow pace the trials would never be completed. The trials should be completed speedily to fulfill the expectations of the victims and their families,’ senior war crimes prosecutor Zead Al Malum told.
