On October 26, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a bilateral talk with United States of America (U.S.) Secretary of State Michael R Pompeo at Hyderabad House of Delhi with special focus on Afghanistan stability and cross border terrorism, reports The Indian Express. In the meeting which happened ahead of the third India-US 2+2 ministerial meeting to be held on October 27, both the countries extensively discussed the fragile situation in Afghanistan and the need to maintain stability in the country in order to ensure peace in the region. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also clearly stated that cross-border terrorism was “completely unacceptable” especially in the wake of increased violence in Afghanistan in the recent days. Both the countries also followed up on their Indo-Pacific engagement and the Quad deliberations, and spoke about maritime security, counter-terrorism, open connectivity and resilient supply chains.
