Union Government extended the Armed Forces (Special) Powers Act (AFSPA) in some parts of Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh for another six months, reports The Hindu on October 4. According to Government officials, the uncertainty around the culmination of the Naga peace process is one of the reasons that led to the extension.
