The Attorney General (AG) on June 24 directed the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) C. Wickramaratne to conduct a criminal investigation against former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando for failing to prevent or mitigate the April 21 Easter Sunday Attacks, reports Colombo Page. The AG's Coordinator, State Counsel Nisara Jayaratne said that the AG had given instructions to the IGP.The Attorney General has given this advice after considering the recommendations of the report of the special committee appointed by the President to probe the Easter Sunday attacks.
