An Army jawan (trooper) was killed and another injured when Pakistani troops violated the Cease Fire Agreement (CFA) and resorted to heavy firing and mortar shelling in forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on September 30, reports The Times of India. The Pakistan Army initiated the unprovoked CFA violation by firing from small arms and intense shelling of mortars along the LoC in the Mankote and Krishna Ghati sectors on September 30 night, a defence spokesperson said, adding Lance Naik Karnail Singh was killed in the firing from across the border in the Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch District on the night of September 30. Another trooper was also injured in the firing in the Krishna Ghati sector. The CFA violations at both sectors were retaliated befittingly by the Indian Army.
