The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU), a special unit of Bangladesh Police, on November 19 received the status of an investigation agency as the Government framed new rules for the unit, reports Dhaka Tribune. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a gazette notification relating to the "Anti-Terrorism Unit Rules 2019". Confirming the matter, ATU’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Mahiduzzaman said "The Anti-Terrorism Unit carried out operation activities with limitations, now all these restrictions have been lifted. Necessary steps will be taken to start its work in full swing at various stages of the unit, including operations."
