Border Security Force (BSF) troops thwarted an attack by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) along the Line of Control (LoC) in Macchil sector in Kupwara District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India late on November 22, reports The Times of India. A BSF sentry observed suspicious movement close to the border fence at the Tower Post in Macchil sector and fired some gunshots that reported late retaliation. Forces deployed along the LoC opened fire, repelling the BAT attack, BSF Deputy Inspector General (DIG), north Kashmir, R Mathur Krishna, said. Searches were launched in the area, but none was found and the operation was subsequently called off. Krishna further said the BAT team had retreated because of inclement weather.
