Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE), one of the notable election monitors observing Presidential Election in Sri Lanka has observed an increasing trend in hate speeches during the election campaigns, reports Colombo Page on October 20. Speaking to the local media, CaFFE Director Surangi Ariyawansa has stated that false and hateful statements are increasingly being made about presidential candidates, especially at election rallies and on social media. She further stated that the growing hate and racist statements about rival candidates on election platforms can lead to violence, if not contained.
