Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chandana Wickramaratne on August 16 ordered the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) to investigate two complaints received regarding Gotabhaya Rajapaksa receiving a passport from the Department of Immigration and Emigration, reports Colombo Page. Two complaints have been lodged that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa while being a foreign national has obtained a new national identity card and used that to obtain a new passport. Acting IGP had first directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the complaints and had subsequently removed the investigations from the CID and directed them to the CCD.
