A Chinese engineer was injured when unidentified assailants opened fire on his car near the Gulbai bridge in Shershah area of Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, in the morning of July 28, reports The Balochistan Post. According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG), South Zone Karachi, Javed Akbar Riaz, two Chinese nationals were on their way to their house in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) when unidentified assailants opened fire on their car near the Gulbai bridge. One of the engineers was wounded in the attack. The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for the attack in a media statement. BLF said that China has been abetting Pakistan in its exploitation and rampant human rights abuses in Balochistan. BLF said that we are not involved in any conflict with any foreign power, but anyone aiding Pakistan in its “oppressive policies” in Balochistan will be at our gunpoint. We warn foreign powers to not abet Pakistan in any shape or form in its “occupation” of Balochistan, BLF warned.
