The Coordination Committee (CorCom), a conglomerate of six militant outfits of Northeast India, has announced a total shutdown for 11 hours on August 15 in Northeast India, reports East Mojo. In a statement issued on August 12, CorCom compromising of Hynniewtrep National Council (HNLC) based in Meghalaya, Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) from Manipur, Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) from Manipur, Kamtapur Liberation Organization (KLO) based in Assam and parts of West Bengal, People’s Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCK) based in Assam and National Liberation Front of Twipra (NLFT), a banned insurgent group from Tripura, as reported in Nagaland Post, has called for boycott on 73rd Independence Day of India.
The militant outfits in their statement have asserted that “the WESEA is a unique case in the totality of India. The peripheral rimland colonies are different from heartland India. WESEA is more different. The Wesean people’s craze for the ruling political party of India is not a result of our emotional integration with mainland India.” Also criticizing the recent happenings during the covid-19 pandemic in the major metropolitan cities of India, CorCom stated that racial discrimination against the Mongoloid-looking people of WESEA especially by the “educated middle-aged middle-class people have been prevalent for a long time in mainland India”.
