A trooper of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) sustained critical injuries in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast near Pegdapalli camp under Tarem Police Station limits in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on January 14, reports The Indian Express. The injured trooper was identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Muhammad Aslam (51) of the CRPF 153 battalion. Aslam along with his troops was out from the Pegdapalli CRPF camp on a Road Security and Area Domination Operation, when he inadvertently stepped on a pressure IED (victim operated mechanism) planted by Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) and the blast hit his right leg, which got critically injured. “He was treated at the Basaguda field hospital and later, air evacuated to a better medical facility in Raipur. His condition is stable,” said Sundarraj P, Inspector general of Police (IGP), Bastar range.
