The Police arrested a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militant from Srinagar city in Srinagar District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) early on July 16 (today), reports India TV. According to Sanjeev Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, the militant has been identified as Basir Ahamad, carrying a reward of INR 200,000. Ahmad was earlier arrested by Delhi Police in 2007, following an encounter. He was later released on bail by a court after which the Delhi Police had approached the High Court. A non-bailable warrant was issued against Ahmad after he refused to appear in the court. Other than the JeM terrorist, two other accomplices of Ahmad have also been arrested by the Delhi Police. The identities of the other two accomplices are yet to be established.
