Security Forces (SFs) seized explosives and ammunition after a gunfight with the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres during a search operation in the Bhimaram Reserve Forest area near Gunamamudi village under Papermetla Police Station in Malkangiri District of Odisha on October 27, reports The Pioneer. Based on reliable intelligence input, an operation was launched by Border Security Force (BSF), Special operations Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) teams of Odisha Police, and the Andhra Pradesh Police in the Bhimaram Reserve Forest area under Papermetla Police Station of the district along Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border. Following exchange of fire, the area was thoroughly searched and huge quantity of arms and ammunition including one Improvised Explosive Device (IED), 11 7.62 mm Self Loading Rifle (SLR) live rounds, four 7.62 mm AK rounds, one 5.56 mm INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) assault rifle, one SLR magazine, 32 numbers of detonators, one camera flash, radio, 11 number of kit bags, three pairs of Maoist uniforms and literatures, utensils, medicines and daily used articles were seized.
