In the last pre-poll press conference on November 13, Election Commission (EC) Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya disclosed that the first results of ‘Presidential Election 2019’ will be disclosed by November 16 midnight, reports Daily News. Further speaking about the election, Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya along with Election Commission Member Nalin Abeysekara PC, Election Commission Director General Saman Sri Rathnayake and Government Information Department Director General Nalaka Kaluwewa, raised apprehension regarding the total cost of the Presidential Poll to exceed Rs.7.5 billion, reports Daily Mirror. Deshapriya also spoke about the difficulties faced by the EC in recruiting public servants for election duty due to nil representation. On teachers and monks trying to influence voters to vote for certain specific candidates, Deshapriya called for a complete stop to any use of religious activities and places of religious worship to promote candidates.
