Former Hmar People's Convention-Democratic (HPC-D) spokesperson Lathalien who is also a church leader from Imphal in Manipur, will be sworn in as the chief executive member (CEM) of Sinlung Hills Council, reports The Telegraph on July 10. Former HPC-D working chairman Lalthanglien alias L.T. Hmar of Zohmun village will take oath as the chairman and former deputy army chief of the Hmar militants, Lalbieknung of Saiphai village, will be sworn in as the deputy chairman of the interim council. THe swearing in ceremony is slated to be held on July 13 in Aizawl.
The Mizoram government on July 9 issued a notification constituting a 12-member interim council of the Sinlung Hills Council. Of the 12 members, three belong to the surrendered HPC-D while nine members are civilians. A notification issued by state home department additional secretary Lalbiakzama said the term of the interim council would be for six months, which comes into effect from Monday. Four persons, Lalthlamuana Hmar, Darliensang Ralsun, J.C. Zairemkunga and Melody Lalchhuangzeli, the daughter of the outfit's ageing chairman H. Zosangbera, we-re appointed executive members. Roh-ringa Hmar, Rinsanga Ralte, Benjamin, B. Lal-thachhunga and Lalremruata Varte were appointed members of the interim council. The government is yet to appoint two more members from its side.
