Two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were killed by Security Forces (SFs) during an operation in Tujjan village of Pulwama District in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on June 21 , reports Daily Excelsior. Acting on specific information input generated by Police regarding presence of militants in Tujjan village a joint cordon and search operation was launched by SFs. The hiding militants fired indiscriminately upon the search party which was retaliated leading to an encounter. Two militants of JeM were killed. They were identified as Abid Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Barpora village in Pulwama and Majid Nazir Wani, resident of Banpora, in Ladoo Pampore. As per Police records, both the killed militants were part of group involved in several militancy related cases including attacks on SFs and civilians. Besides, Wani was also involved in the killing of Sub-Inspector (SI) Farooq Ahmad. Incriminating materials, cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter.
Further, two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed during an operation in Tulibal area of Sopore in Baramulla District on June 21, reports Daily Excelsior. During the search operation, militants fired indiscriminately upon the search party which was retaliated leading to an encounter. Two militants of LeT were killed. They were identified as Zahid Ahmad Chopan, resident of Tengwani Shopian and Mohd Youns Gul, resident of Washbugh Pulwama. As per Police records, both the militants had joined militancy fold recently. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including two AK-47 rifles and four magazines have been recovered from the site of encounter.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar, said on June 21 that so far 118 militants including 32 foreigners were killed in J&K in 2022 including 77 of LeT and 22 of JeM, reports Daily Excelsior. However, last year 55 militants including two foreigners were eliminated during the same period.
Separately, Police on June 21 arrested a hybrid terrorist of LeT in Juhama area of Baramulla District, reports Greater Kashmir. A Police spokesman said that the hybrid terrorist, identified as Shahid Ahmad Parray son of Gh Ahmad Parray resident of Kathpora Hajin in Bandipora District, was apprehended by SFs at a checkpoint near Juhama Crossing. A Pistol, pistol magazine, seven rounds and two hand grenades were recovered from his possession.
In addition, Police along with SFs busted a terror module of LeT by arresting three terror associates, identified as Ashiq Hussain Hajam, son of Ghulam Mohd Hajam, Ghulam Mohiud-Din Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, both residents of Zuhama Chadoora and Tahir Bin Ahmed, son of Ghulam Ahmed Hajam resident of Badipora Chadoora in Budgam, reports Greater Kashmir. "Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested trio was involved in facilitating transportation of terrorists, arms/explosive materials & providing logistic support to the active terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT in district Budgam", Police said. "Incriminating material, arms & ammunition including 01 Chinese Pistol, 02 Pistol magazines, 22 Pistol rounds, 01 AK magazine, 30 AK rounds have been recovered from their possession. Besides, 01 motorcycle (TVS Red colour) used in terror crimes bearing registration number JK01N-8067 has also been seized", Police added further.
Meanwhile, Police on June 21 attached five houses in Srinagar District as they were reportedly being used for the purpose of militancy and that many attacks on civilians and security forces were conspired and planned by militants while using these houses as hideouts, reports Daily Excelsior. “On June 21, 2022, five residential houses of wilful harbourers of militants were attached as per section 2(g) and section 25 of UAP Act. These are the houses where it has been proved beyond doubt that these houses were used for the purpose of militancy and shelter and harbour was voluntarily, knowingly given by the member(s) of these houses. Many attacks on civilians, security forces were conspired and planned by militants while using these houses as hideouts,” a Police statement said. Two houses have been attached in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Parimpora, while one house each has been attached in the jurisdictions of Panthachowk, Nowhatta and Zakoora Police Stations.
