Two cadres of the People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a splinter group of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), were arrested with arms and ammunitions during frisking of vehicles at Jerakel on Gudri-Lodai road in West Singhbhum District of Jharkhand on October 3, reports The Print. One of the arrestees has five cases under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) including 302 (murder), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and the Arms Act pending in Gudri Police Station against one of them, a Police release said, adding that there was information that a group of armed PLFI cadres was moving around in Jerakel, Bilkel, Kotagada and nearby areas to extract ‘levy’ (extortion money) from a contractor engaged in work on the Gudri-Lodai road. The Police team intercepted three suspected youths on a motorcycle but they tried to flee leaving behind the two-wheeler, however, the Police chased them and arrested two of them. Police seized two country-made pistols and three live cartridges from them. The Police impounded the motorcycle, a mobile phone and two sim cards from them, the statement said.
Guddu Kumar alias Guddu Yadav alias Umesh Yadav, ‘area commander’ of Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC), a splinter group of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), a resident of Rampur under Lavalong Police Station area of Chatra District, was arrested by Manatu Police in Palamu District of Jharkhand on October 2, reports jantaserishta.com. Acting on information that ‘sub zonal commander’ Gautam Oraon and ‘area commander’ Guddu, along with their squad, for the purpose of collecting ‘levy’ (extortion money) from Palamu and for causing untoward incidents adjoining Palamu, in area around Kekargarh, Jhirnia, Jhardar, Hedum, Dwarka, Rampur, Rimmi, and Kothari, the Police arrested him, while Gautam managed to flee. Guddu was on the run for the last five years, and one case each is registered against him in Manatu and Latehar Police Stations.

A country-made pistol was recovered from his possession. Sanjay, a resident of Sarangloya village under Lapung Police Station, has 13 cases including murder, levy, attack on Police is registered in Khunti's Torpa, Gumla's Kamdara, Sisai, Basia and Ranchi's Jagannathpur, Lapung and Itki Police Stations.
