Two militants were killed in an encounter with Security Forces (SFs) in Shokbaba forest area in Bandipora District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on July 24 (today), reports Greater Kashmir. The identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained and the operation is still in progress, said Police spokesman.
Meanwhile, militants killed a civilian identified as Javaid Ahmed Malik (35) working as a teacher at his residence at Lurgam village in Pulwama District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on July 23, reports Daily Excelsior. After the militants fired at Javaid he was shifted to Sub District Hospital Tral where doctors declared him dead. Police have taken up the investigation.
Separately, one Indian Army soldier was killed and another solider suffered injury in a suspected mine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch District in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on July 23, reports Greater Kashmir.
Elsewhere, a boy recovered two radio sets and ammunition near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and handed over them to the Indian Army on July 23, reports Daily Excelsior. He is a resident of Lamberi village of Nowshera residing along the International Border (IB).
Police have identified the slain militant killed in an encounter with Security Forces (SFs) at Warpora village of Sopore in Baramulla District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on July 23 as Shaheen Ahmad Mir alias Shaheen Molvi, resident of Cherpora of Budgam District. Earlier South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP) reported about this incident on July 23.
