A gunfight took place between cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) and Security Forces (SFs) in the Keradehi forests area in Balaghat District of Madhya Pradesh on July 1, reports The Free Press Journal. Superintendent of Police (SP), Kumar Saurabh said, in order to conduct the Panchayat (village level local self-Government institution) elections free and fair manner, the Hawk Force including District Police are conducting area domination, and in the series, the forces were conducting domination when they saw four armed Maoists were seen in the forest area. The force personnel asked them to stop but in place of stopping they opened fire on the forces resulting in the exchange of fire. No casualty is reported from both the sides, and the Maoists ran away towards the dense forest.
