On July 4, unknown miscreants lobbed a hand grenade at the residential compound of Agriculture Director Nongmaithem Gojendro at Tera Sapam Leirak in Imphal West District of Manipur, reports The Sangai Express. However, the bomb did not explode. A family member of Director Nongmaithem Gojendro later in the morning found the bomb. The Police later recovered the bomb. So far, no militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack. This is the second attack at Director Nongmaithem Gojendro’s house. Earlier on June 24, suspected insurgents lobbed a China-made hand grenade at the director’s house.
Meanwhile, one militant belonging to People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-progressive (PREPAK-pro) was arrested during a cordon and search operation from Lamshang Thong Maning area in Imphal West District on July 4. The arrestee was identified as Sorokhaibam Inaoton Singh alias Sanjit. One mobile handset along with one Honda Activa seized from him.
On the same day, one militant of a militant outfit identified as Huirem Biren alias Panthaba was arrested from Cachar Joypur Part III of Imphal West District.
In another incident, a United National Liberation Front (UNLF) militant was arrested on July 4 from Thangal Bazar of Imphal West District in Manipur, tweets Assam Rifles.
