International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) of Bangladesh on March 16 issued a death warrant for Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) leader ATM Azharul Islam, who was condemned for committing war crimes in Rangpur during the Liberation War in 1971, reports New Age. On December 30, 2014, the ICT-1 sentenced Azhar to death finding him guilty of aiding, facilitating and participating in war crimes and crimes against humanity at different areas of Rangpur during the war. Azhar is lodged at Kashimpur High Security Prison in Gazipur.
