The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted near Nowgam railway station in Srinagar District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on February 22, reports The Times of India. Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Range, Vijay Kumar said, “The suspected explosive was spotted on Pantha Chowk-Nowgam road stretch by a road-opening party and a police team, following which the bomb disposal squad was called to check the suspicious item, which turned out to be an IED fitted in a tin box.” The IED was spotted on a day when rail services between Banihal to Baramulla resumed after a gap of 11 months. However, Later, the IED was defused safely.
