The indefinite ‘bandh’ (shutdown Strike) in the Dima Hasao District of Assam has been withdrawn after State Government invited the Indigenous People’s Forum (IPF) for talks on February 17, reports Insidene on February 12. Earlier on February 11, during the first day of the “indefinite bandh” there were clashes between the supporters and opponents of the Bandh leading to damage to property. The IPF, a non-Dimasa community from Dima Hasao District is demand of a separate Autonomous district with separate Autonomous Councils for the non-Dimasas living in the District.
