A Parliamentary delegation from India thwarted Pakistan's attempt to raise the Kashmir issue at a United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), South Asian Parliamentarian Conference on Children Rights in Colombo, Sri Lanka on September 3, reports The Times of India. India asserted that it was India's internal matter, slamming Pakistan’s record on rights issues of minorities.
"We firmly reminded them that Jammu and Kashmir was an integral part of India and India is the largest democracy in the world and as stakeholders in the Indian democracy, an Indian voice will be heard, not that of a vested interest, not that of a foreign country, and not certainly that of Pakistan," Indian Member of Parliament (MP), Gaurav Gogoi, who is part of the delegation stated.
