Assam Police issued alert in several Districts, including the Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts (BTAD), after intelligence indicated that nearly 12 National Democratic Front of Bodoland-Saraigwra (NDFB-S) militants are trying to enter Assam, reports Assam Tribune on October 7. Special Director General of Police (Special Branch) Pallab Bhattacharya stated that about 10 to 12 militants NDFB-S were trying to enter Assam from Myanmar. He also added that NDFB-S militants in Myanmar is facing severe fund crunch that might have triggered the move. He also stated that ‘However, we do not want to take any chances and have directed all concerned to take necessary steps to thwart any kind of subversive activities’. Alerts have been sounded in Districts of Darrang and Sonitpur. Meanwhile, a senior Assam Police official based in the BTAD stated that the outfit is running out of funds and that is why they might try to raise money.
