An intelligence input indicates the presence of around 20 cadres of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in Niyamgiri forests bordering Rayagada and Kalahandi Districts of Odisha, reports The New Indian Expresson January 26. As per the report, the Maoists under ‘Rayagada Area Committee (RAC)’ of the CPI-Maoist have been observed moving in the bordering areas of the said Districts. Following the input, Police personnel of Rayagada and Central Paramilitary Force (CRPF) troopers hasinitiated anti-Maoist operations in the forest and combing operation has also been intensified in Kalyansinghpur village in Rayagada District. Further, Security Forces (SFs) in Kalahandi District have been alerted over the possibility of Maoists sneaking into the District from the Rayagada side.
