Police on August 7 arrested a hybrid militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) at Lawaypora area of Srinagar city, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Daily Excelsior. Police said on a specific information, one hybrid militant of LeT Arshid Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Kareem Bhat of Sangam in Budgam District, was arrested by Security Forces. Five pistols, five magazines, 50 rounds and two hand grenades were recovered from his possession.
Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on August 8 (today) carried out searches at multiple places in Jammu and Doda Districts against members of banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) in a terror funding case, reports Daily Excelsior. Simultaneous raids are underway at nearly a dozen places at the premises of JeI office-bearers and members in different parts of the two Districts since early this morning, the officials said. Official said the raids are being carried out at Dhara-Gundana, Munshi Mohalla, Akramband, Nagri Nai Basti, Kharoti Bhagwah, Thalela and Malothi Bhalla in Doda District and Bhatindi in Jammu. According to NIA, the funds being raised by JeI are also channelised to proscribed terrorist organisations such as Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, LeT and others through well organised networks of JeI cadres.
