The Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, presently on his maiden visit to India from December 16-18, has said on December 16 while addressing the ‘India-Maldives Business Forum’ in New Delhi, India, that the Maldives is open to conduct businesses with India, and there are no obstacles to Foreign Investment [FI] procedures in the Maldives, reports The Maldives Times. India is Maldives’ closest neighbour and citizens of the two countries [India and the Maldives] are bound by ties of friendship and cultural similarities. Not only a closest friend but, India is one of Maldives’ largest trading partners as well. Within those close connections, trade and commerce have flourished, said President Solih. Also, Maldives is grateful that India hosts thousands of Maldivian students to explore the opportunities to attend world-renowned educational institutions in India and learn from some of the world’s best doctors, engineers, and technologists, said President Solih.
