The second phase of polling in Manipur for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency on April 18 went smoothly except for an incident of firing by security men in a polling station in Imphal East District, reports Assam Tribune. The Chief Electoral Officer PK Singh stated that the polling percentage was about 75 per cent. The polling for Inner Manipur seat was held at 1,300 polling stations. More than 40 companies of paramilitary forces and State police were deployed for the smooth conduct of the election. Nagaland Post adds that at least dozen people including two polling officials sustained injuries in a clash between supporters of two rival parties. Clashes occurred at Kiyamgei Muslim Makha locality, Andro, Thongju and Heingang all located in Imphal East District.
